Howdy

Flew out to visit the family in OH/MI and went to a fabulous place
in Farmington (or was it Farmington Hills?), MI called
Magic Marvin's Mechanical Museum (or something like that).

He's got the craziest place I've ever seen: chock full of antique
vintage electromechanical things from penny arcades and Coney Island
and such. Many old British WWII diversion machines, fortune tellers
(like from the movie Big), model airplanes, kiddie rides, Chuck E Cheese
animals, Ripley's Believe it or not Kinescopes, love meters, etc. etc.

The place is the most manic, most crowded thing I've every seen--total
sensory overload.

In addition to the oldie things, there's a good selection of classic
vids: Ms Pac, Popeye, Frogger, Kick, Centipede, and a few more.

Also has a very wide, up-to-date collection of the big big hot new
machines: Blitz, Harley, Super GT, Namco's skateboarding sim, House
of the Dead, etc. etc.

Also lots of "medium" age games: T2, etc.

Also saw Chiller for the 1st time (tucked away in the darkest, remotest
corner). That's one damn gruesome grisly game.

Check it out--it's really amazing.

Admission is free, everything takes coins (many old ones are nickels
or dimes, or converted to quarters). By the entrance is their electric
meter--you can watch the needle spinning round & round--they put a little
donation basket right by that, asking you to plop in some $ if you
don't dump $ into the machines.
