I have a stand up Outrun arcade game. The problem that it is having is
that when I push the gas pedal all the way down, the car will
sometimes quit moving. It's not constant, but probably 80% of the
time. I have to constantly vary the amount of pressure on the gas
pedal to keep the car going when I want to go full speed. I don't
notice this at any other position. For example, if I put a small block
of wood beneath the pedal to prevent it from going full speed, the
problem never arises.

I am assuming that the potentiometer is going bad or has a bad spot on
it. Where can I buy one of these? And what exactly do I need to order?
I took the pedal assembly out, but could find no distinguishing marks
on the potentiometer.

Also, are the potentiometers on the brake and gas the same? If so, I
could swap the brake potentiometer with the gas. After all, who uses
the brakes anyway?

Thanks in advance,
Dale

it does sound like your pot is bad, or possibly needing calibration
(with the self test software), sound bad to me though.
I believe, from looking at the manual (http://www.arcade-museum.com/
manuals-videogames/O/outrun_manual.pdf)
that's a 5K POT part number 220-5130. Happ sells 5K Sega pots with a
different part # though I'm not sure if they are the same mounting
dimensions.. you might give them a call.

also do a search on 220-5130 and "pot" and you'll find a some links
other posting with the same question on where to find them.
good luck.
