Hi everyone,
the big sale in July that I had mentioned will actually start tomorrow
night. The warehouse is full so he's letting me start the sale tomorrow and
Saturday. Here's the deal:

Bring a handtruck, an extension cord, a flash light, maybe a couple
screwdrivers and something to haul them home in. There is lighting in the
warehouse but it's iffy.. and there are only three outlets in the warehouse
too.

Bring CASH.. it's cash only. There's no credit cards or anything of the
sort.. no phone lines there at all.

Hours tomorrow are 5pm to 10pm

Hours Saturday are 9am to 2pm

There are some other games and pins and stuff in there that aren't for sale.
Once we make some more room there will be other types of stuff coming in.
Right now it's just 19" and 25" games in every kind of shape you can think
of. In July I want to clean out another area and add a ton of parts. There
is no list of any sorts that I have of the games. You can search google for
my last post if you want to see some of the stuff that's in there. Most of
it is converted games but there are a bunch of dedicated classics, some
working and some not.

The sale is located under the Nextel Phone Store in Orange, Connecticut.
The address for Nextel is:

153 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477

Pull into the parking lot and then go around to the back of the store. At
the far end of the parking lot in the rear there is a garage door to the
basement area. Come on in..

No items can be held, so bring as much haulin space as you need. We just
brought over another 25 or so cabs this week. I imagine there will be alot
more being added throughout the summer but the next sale probably won't be
until July. 85% of the stuff has been tested.

I'll taking care of the sale for the operator so I'll see some of you
there...

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.........

In this international world we live in, can I respectfully request that
you hold your next sale in LONDON :-)

Good luck with the sale tho. I'd love to come along to something like
that, but I'd have no way of getting anything back :-(

Yours, Mark.

Ask for Mrs. Hans O. JFK to PIK. You can take the whole
warehouse. Then she gets a juicy commission check and Hans O
can upgrade his big screen :-)

For those of you interested in the sale. I went through the warehouse with
the owner this AM and got prices on everything. Prices range from $50 to
$700 for some higher end 25" stuff. There will be another sale in July as
well for those who are interested. There's also tons of cheap phones and
oddball stuff he wants out. I'll be there all night from 5 to 10pm and
tomorrow from 9am to 2pm. Look for the guy with the blue automated services
t-shirt and I can help you out. Bring the wife and kids if you want.. it's
a shopping mega area and there's an arcade down the street. If you want to
check out his retail store that's also down the street and they're open
until 8 or 9.

Thanks, Scott

You had to pick the one weekend I couldn't get free, didn't you?

Go ahead; rub salt in the wound. Tell me you had an empty Space Duel with

Glad it's going well for you. Maybe I'll be able to make it in July's sequel

Man, I wish I'd had more warning on this. I've got to go to Rome, NY
tomorrow to pick up some games. I can't justify TWO trips to my wife
(let alone the one she's giving me crap about).

Too bad, I was really looking forward to this.

Iain, I've got a nice Space Duel that I pulled the monitor from to get
my Tempest going. It's working besides missing the monitor, I've also
got a new overlay for it along with a spare non-working boardset.

Shoot me an email, I'm near Kansas City but can ship.

Oh for f-ck's sake! A day's notice on 4th of July weekend!? You want to

There will be another big weekend sale coming up in July and I'll be able to
give at least a week's notice. I am going to be there anyway tomorrow so I
figured I'd offer... sheesh. Personally I don't care if anyone shows up.
Just less junk that I have to move around. It's not my stuff anyway so I
don't care if it sells, I just work for the guy. I have no control over any
of it and only work for him two days a week. When I give the week's notice
you better show up! : )

That's why I was 'upset,' actually. If I'd even had one more day's notice

Nearly the entire rest of July is full. Work, weddings, et cetera.

But I assure you I'll sure as heck try!

Best of luck with the sales,

sold 5 or 6 more machines today and there are still plenty more to go.. I
will be there Monday July 5th from 12 to 5 if anyone else is interested in
checking out the warehouse. Lots of 25 inch stuff moving out the door.
More than half of the games I've sold out of the warehouse have gone to the

I do alot of work in the warehouse and he's in no hurry to get rid of the
stuff... He's been sitting on some of the stuff for years already and with
4 other warehouses full of stuff it's not a big deal to him to be sitting on
the stuff. He likes having the inventory. I spoke with the operator today
and there is a tentative date for the next sale which should include Vids,
Pins, Parts, Jukes and all kinds of stuff. It'll be a three day sale
starting Thursday July 22nd, Friday July 23rd and Saturday July 24th.. There
will be extended hours on the weekdays and a good long Saturday. He will be
advertised to the public as well. When I hear or see more of what's to come
I will let the group know. I'm trying to get at least 2 dozen pins in there
and a bunch of Jukes and parts.. The hard part is getting him to commit to
what to put in there..

Wow... and he's still in business... I've never know any one in business to
like having inventory.... It's just money sitting around not earning
anything (unless it's collectables... but then businss's are generally never
in the business of "collecting" collectables, just reselling them...)

Well, he has a good reputation and sells stuff all over the country. He
uses Ebay to sell and advertise. If someone wants something he'll usually
have it. It's pretty nice to be able to call a place and they don't have to
track down a game or pin for you from another retailer. He gets alot of
repeat business and is in Fairfield County which has tons of $$$. He has
people who drive 4 or 5 hours to come see a piece because he has them. Not
everyone wants to buy stuff off of Ebay. Most homebuyers aren't interested
in fixing these games. They just want one that works and they like the
reassurance that comes with buying from a retailer. If they ever have a
problem, they know who they can call. He buys lots of bulk stuff for a few
choice pieces that he'll get top dollar for. He also does tons of vending,
redemption and anything else you can put a coin or dollar into. Eitherway,
he's in a good place and does good business. Collectors like us don't pay
top dollar for any piece and often gripe when we see high prices in the
newsgroup, so obviously he doesn't sell alot to us. He focuses on the home
buyers and it works very well for him. Right now, people in the 25-40 age
group are the people buying everything and nostalgia sells big. We're the
group that grew up in the arcades when they were in their hayday, and the
same group that is starting to have some disposable income. If you live in
the majority of Fairfield County you have some disposable income and arcade
games fit that bill. Maybe you just bought your first house and you're
fixing up the basement or something like that.. why not have a pin or game
down there to help fill the down stairs bar "atmosphere". Personally, I
sell alot of games to home buyers as well who see my listings occasionally
on Ebay. And 9 out of 10 times it's someone who's just about as old as me
and it's the same story.. just bought a house, wife loves a certain game,
he loves a certain game so they end up getting one or two and later they
come back for the other. I imagine as time goes on and this generation
starts to get older, have kids growing up and having more expenses, the
bottom will fall out of this market. The younger generation seems to want
Mame or they love consoles. I sold a cabinet the other day to a kid who was
13 who came by the warehouse with his Dad. Dad was a little skeptical of
the whole idea but for what will probably cost the kid $300 total he'll have
a cool two player 6 button mame cab that his parents and friends will enjoy.

Yeah, I did. I hate calling people on their cell. Stems from the old
days when they cost an arm and a leg per minute. Besides, I wouldn't
have wanted to bug you.

Hey, I got to see the store, which *was* very impressive (I hope to open
somethign similar one day). BTW, did I mention that your boss was a
dick? ;-)

It was for the best that you weren't there. I brought the family with
me. Never again! Learned one very important lesson today (well, TWO if
you count _read_carefully_) never mix family with business! Wife with
day long headache, generally bitchy, two screaming kids...yeah...next
