I have a question. My Super Pac Man has a strange malady. When I
lightly tap the coin switch, the game does a credit like normal.
However, If I happen to press the switch too far or hold it for more
than an instant, the system just keeps crediting up, and letters appear
where it says Credits. What's up? Is there any way I can fix this
without replacing the switch?
Thanks!

It was implemented intentionally as an "anti-cheat" measure.
Those who have been around the block will know what I mean.
Engineer's interpretation:
A paid-for falling coin (neglecting the obvious friction and
non-linear path the coin takes) will have a linear speed of
about 1.5 m/s after traveling the 15 cm pathway from the
coin entry slot to the coin switch actuator wire. It will
be able to trip the coin switch and exit the switch pathway
in about 10 ms. Hence the concept of a "fast pulse".
(In actuality, it will be traveling much slower.)
A less-than scrupulous person attempting to simulate the
falling coin would have to be able to duplicate the timing
in order to "fool" the program into believing that a paid-
for coin has fallen through the coin pathway. If they were
an amateur or were too slow, then the program would detect
a "slow pulse" and then displays "CREDITAA" and locked-up.
"CREDITAA" never occurs with normal use.
The term "CREDITAA" became jargon with some ;-)

Wouldn't it make more sense to have the game not start, instead of just
making funny noises?
Am I wrong on this?

1) the coin switch pulse is removed quickly and/or
2) you start up a game right away.
If you continue to allow the coin switch the be held low or do not
start up a game, I think the game will lock up and then you will
be unable to start a game. Try this and see if it the case.
