Title says it all. Under no circumstances should you ever deal with
this person. Avoid at all costs. Here is my story:

I placed 30 arcade games in a room at the Long Island Reptile Museum.
After 4 months it was evident that the place was not making money and
I decided to remove my machines. Steve Kates called the police and
attempted to say the games were his and that he bought them from me!

I showed the Police the serial numbers and my reciept from buying them
myself. They would not help out and told me I had to take him to
court!

On the side the police told me I should show up when Steve wasn't
there and remove my games. They said it is not tresspassing since I
pay some from of rent. Well that is how my Christmas morning was spent
- commando raiding my games.

I managed to get lucky and get my stuff back incident free and I have
learned some valuable lessons.

Let this serve as a warning to you all to avoid STEVE KATES and the
LONG ISLAND REPTILE MUSUEM.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

Sincerely,

- Scott Heit

Thats why I always get a receipt for games I place on location signed by the
owner or suitable corportate rep, not just he candy counter kid, and the
first line states that under all circumstances the games remain my property
and the location is not to move, sell, pledge them for security on loans,
allow them to become liened, etc
Congrats on recovering your games and sorry that your holiday got ruined.

Art's right on the money! Get a receipt or contract signed by the
business/location owner. You were awfully lucky to get your machines
back. Be glad he didn't pry them open and take all the money.

Glad you posted the name of the offender so that other folks are
warned. Hopefully nobody will put any machines in this location again.

Hiya!

Have you checked in the cabs yet?? Maybe he left a Cobra or 2 in one as
a Xmas prezzie :-)

Yours, Mark.

You guys are right about the reiept thing. It was my fault I got into
that situation. I was just too trusting and was happy to be opening my
own arcade.

I was really lucky to get my stuff out. In my upcoming spot I will be
more careful to document everything with signatures and dates.

Hope you all had a great holiday!

If I could point out, you weren't opening your own arcade. You were becoming
an operator. Big differences. One of them being having a contract with a
location to help you in situations like this.

I'm glad you got your equipment back, now just so he doesn't come up with
receipts or anything for your games and charge you with theft or see your post
here and sue you.

Think of every possible angle when you put yourself ( & games ) at risk. It's
for your best interests. LTG :)

Actually, there are dozens of loose animals roaming the walls of the
building! I did fine a snake or two in my games before. None this
time though. :0)

I live in a Apt he owes and I'm in a battle with the courts , I took him to court for Repairs in my apt , which is an class B Single Room Occupancy (SRO) and illegally converted to Class A apt , but my apt is the garden apt and since the conversion was poorly done , every time it rains , water just flood my apt. I have call the DHPD, 311, and the Dept of building , I have a case with Human Rights because of his continuously race slurs and even calling ignorant immigrant Asshole.

I don't know how he is not in jail yet. He is a Millionaire and I guess is paying the authorities good money to get away with bullshit like that.
one i have my court will love to invite you as a witness Scott.
