Insert a disc into the machine, while noting how the label is facing.
When it pops out, is the label oriented in the same direction? If so,
it looks like your CD motor is cooked. Call the nearest Panasonic
repair center and make arrangements for a replacement.

From the 3DO NEW USERS FAQ:

* MY 3DO IS SPITTING OUT THE CD(-ROM) I INSERTED, AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK!

Uh-oh! Notice the direction the printed label of the CD is facing. If
after the CD is spat out, you notice that it did not move, there are
chances your CD-ROM drive has given up on you. Old Panasonic FZ-1 units
are known for this. First, don't panic. No need to call 9-1-1.

If your heart is set to try a quick fix, head to your local Radio Shack,
and buy the Precision Lubricator (With TEFLON <R>), about 1.50$. Then,
it's time to open up your FZ-1 unit. Take the cover off, insert a CD,
and check if the CD is spinning. If it is, forget it; you've got another
problem on your hands.

If not, take the drive cage out, and oil the little hole on the CD motor
on the underside, with the Precision Lubricator. There are 2 flat
motors underneath; the one you want to oil is the one directly in-line
with the cd-spinning mechanism (although you can't hurt it by oiling both
motors). Then plug back your 3DO in the wall outlet, and insert a CD;
help it start spinning if it doesn't want to. Should do the trick (test
it thoroughly before putting everything back together again).

If not, here are the phone numbers for the Matsushita ServiCenters:
NORTHEAST: 215.741.0661 MIDWEST: 708.608.1010
SOUTH : 404.717.6880 WEST : 714.373.7425
HEADQUARTERS: 201.348.9090

Goldstar info for repairs: 800.222.6457 (push menu-code HiMedia)

You'll need a copy of your purchase invoice if your unit is still under
warranty, in order to have it repaired free of charge.

Hi, i recently buy a 3do fz-1 for my VG console collection, i used it the first night and everything was ok, the next day it stop spinning discs. i investigate a lot they are possible errors and solutions

- The motor that moves the disc is fryed, with no oil or some soldered cable is damaged.
- The Cd-rom unit is damaged (need replacement)
- some gears of the mechanims are broken or misslocated

- Solutions
- Oil the motors with a precision lubricator and prey to spin all again
- Buy a Matushita CR-560-b unit or similar (like CR-562-b IDE) to get the parts and fix your unit
- Buy a creative labs cd rom unit from 1993 for PC. it may have similar parts inside since they models are similar CR-585 or so.
- Buy a cheap damaged fz-1 with a good Cd-rom unit
- Call a Panasonic or matsushita service center and try to find some guideance.

If this dont work:

forget about your old 3do-fz-1 and consider use the 4do emulator on PC.

mine is still damaged... the cd-rom dont spin at all. and the cd-rom unit are hard to find but not impossible on ebay.
