Finally finishing up Sector-X!
Thanks again for your patience!

I will not receive my shipment of game boxes
until mid-December. There was a huge delay
on these. They go by freight truck, and there
was a mixup (I ordered these many weeks ago).
The company has confirmed that they are enroute
to me. This has nothing to do with the engraved
lids, just the plastic boxes. I expect to start
shipping the games after the boxes arrive.

For anyone who did not order, I have two games
available due to a problem with a customer's
payment. The customer did not correct the situation
after several weeks, and now is not responding to
my emails.

$40 each
$5 shipping US/CAN
$10 shipping WORLDWIDE

Buy one, buy both! The shipping charge is the same
either way. First come, first served.

And for your holiday gift this year...

Vector 21 released as freeware! This also includes
the Star Fury 3D demo. The demo is minimal. Button 1
raises the space station shield and Button 4 fires. You
can move the fire with the joystick. No sound. The
demo should be considered unstable in general, and
untested with homebrew 3D devices.

George, many thanks for the early Christmas present! I'll play with
this until the arrival of Sector X.

Thanks for releasing Vector 21 in freeware, George, I've just played
with it for the first time, and it's a great program.

Would it be possible to include its rom in the packaging for the
upcoming release of ParaJVE (with a pointer to your site, of course) ?

Yes Franck, you can also include the WOTR freeware rom
available at vectrex.nl. The only thing that I ask is that you
mark them as freeware and not public domain. And yes, a
pointer to my site would be great. Thank you.

Sure, thank you George! :-)

No problem, will do that.

By the way, are there any overlays available for these two games that
I could include? (otherwise I could try to create some if time
permits)

Thanks,
Franck.

There was a WOTR overlay for use in mess, but I don't
have it anymore. It was released as a download way back
in '03 I believe. Nothing spectacular, but it had a snowy
border. It was heavily based on the Cosmic Chasm overlay.
No overlay for V21. Feel free to make some new ones.

Thank you very much for providing both WOTR and Vector 21 as freeware,
George!

Thanks Jeroen.

May I ask what is the real difference between WOTR and BTTQ ?
Also, is there any kind of manual/documentation available both for
Vector21 and WOTR?

A lot of questions, I know! :)

BTTQ allows you to go straight to the final boss.
The manuals are not published online.

V21 controls:

B1 - Play card in Stack 1
B2 - Play card in Stack 2
B3 - Play card in Stack 3
B4 - Play card in Stack 4

WOTR controls:

Joystick - Aim
B2 - Turn Left
B3 - Fire
B4 - Turn Right

Also, forgot to mention that the
Star Fury 3D demo works with the
Narrow Escape/Crazy Coaster wheel.

hmmm, I suppose you really do mean it can only be guaranteed to work
only the original 3d imager?
I just put the game on VecFlash and tried with my Kevin Horton adapter
and 3d glasses and nothing happened.
Then I tried with my Madtronix 3d imager and the wheel didn't even
spin.
Then I got worried thinking my vectrex was playing up, but afterwards
I tried with Narrow Escape and everything was working.
Anybody else get their homebrew 3d imager to work with Star Fury?

No, this demo was only made for use with the real Imager, and it is
an unfinished, unstable demo. It's not polished or perfected.
It was already tested back in '06 and it worked with all homebrew
devices.
You're the first person to have a problem with it working that I know
of.
It works with every Imager, but can produce erratic results with
homebrew devices. I just tried it with Horton's adapter and it worked
fine. Try the Horton adapter again, and make sure that it is
plugged in securely and that all contacts are being made. Then make
sure that the adapter works with Narrow Escape. Then try the demo.
It sounds as though you only tried Narrow Escape with the Madtronix
imager after trying out the demo. The Madtronix imager is completely
unsupported, as I am unable to personally test that homebrew device
with my programs. I just checked my PO Box, and it still hasn't
arrived.
(Kidding, but I was promised one for testing purposes years ago).

The overlays are now completed and included in the bundle ; I hope you
won't dislike them too much! Of course, if you have any suggestion for
any change, please tell me.

Well I tried again this weekend with the Horton adapter and it still
didn't work. The Horton adapter does work with the original 3d games,
the same is also true for the Madtronix imager.
Since your Horton adapter works with Star Fury I can only blame the
non operation of the game on my Vectrex.
I will have to investigate further, as I was looking forward to
playing Sector X...

Yeah, that's strange.
What happens exactly? Does the screen just go blank?

If you can burn a real cartridge rather than using your
VecFlash, I would try that. Also, Sector-X is not based
on that demo so there's no reason to assume that you
will face the same thing. And again, this is a very first case
of anybody having a problem with the demo. I sold nearly
150 cartridges without any problems, and nobody else
has chimed in since you.mentioned this.

Here's a past thread regarding the demo from 2006:

The screen just goes blank for either the Madtronix or Horton imager.
For the 3d imager the wheel remains motionless.
It is strange, I'll try burning a ROM to see if it makes any
difference.
As you said no one else is chiming in, so it looks like it is only my
Vectrex that is the naughty one.

Has Sector X been shipped to people, already? Until now, I haven't received
a copy...

No, very soon.
VectrexMad is referring to an older demo.

Use 'Dev' mode in the VecFlash loader. It will put it in the first bank and
then it behaves exactly like a regular cart.

I am pleased to say that was exactly the problem! Star Fury 3D works
when its either burned as a ROM or put in the first bank of the
VecFlash.
I'm really looking forward to Sector X now! The volours on Star Fury
are superb.

Just curious what the technical reason is for this?

In normal mode, the VecFlash uses pin 35 (PIA 16) to switch banks (and
detect a reset). Somehow (and I don't know why) it conflicts with some
normal (and imager) games.

Try putting the games through the VecFlash patcher Alex wrote. It should
then work in the menu as well as single bank.

If Alex were here he could explain exactly what's going on, as he studied
the games to write the patcher.

Really a pity that Alex is no longer around. His games Protector and YASI
are really outstanding.
