Just thought I would let you Vectrex fans know (in case you don't look
at the atariage forum) someone is making Vectrex protection covers. I
beleive they are made from faux leather with the logo in metallic
silver thread.
Some more info with pictures can be found here:

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/151821-game-console-covers-revisted/page__st__25__p__1887981__hl__vectrex__fromsearch__1&#entry1887981

Looks pretty good...

Whoops... of course I meant to say "protection" rather than
"portection" in the subject....
thats one thing I don't like about Usenet group - you can't re-edit
your post.

Today I recieved my Vectrex consolve cover. It has been made well, but
is very baggy - seems much to big - so I am a little dissappointed
with it. I am going to contact to the lady who made it to see if she
can make it a bit smaller.
So for now I don't recommend anybody purchasing one of these because
otherwise they will be dissappointed like me.

Thank you for this info and good luck with making the cover smaller!

I have to agree with you, VectrexMad. I too purchased one of these
covers only to find out they are way too big. Luckily I own a sewing
machine so I went to work sizing it down a good 2" on either side.
The height was also too small. It barely covered the cartridge port.
It looks pretty good right now once I got it all re-stitched. I do
like the "Vectrex" embroidery. She did it in the same font which was
nice.

Hello Lorne, thanks for the info. I contacted the seller and she is
happy to take my covers back and alter according to my directions. The
problem for her she said was that she did not have a real Vectrex to
base it on.
The covers are made really well, so once the dimension issue is sorted
I think she will have a really nice product.
So assuming a happy ending after they have been altered I will inform
everybody and give a link to photos in case anybody else wants to
purchase.
Lorne, have you got exact measurements or were those 2" dimensions
you gave approximate? No problem if they are approximate, I was just
trying to save time, I can measure myself.

That's not good news. I already have two on the way. I thought that her
husband owned a Vectrex?

No, the 2" was an approximate.

Yes, I had purchased two too. It is an incovenience to send them back
(especially since I am in the UK and she is in the US), but at least
she has said she will alter them.

This weekend I'll make the measurenebts and send them to her.

For those that don't read atariage, Chris Romero will loan Barb of
"nannys sewing treats" a Vectrex so that they can get the size of the
covers exactly right. Barb's husband has also said that once they get
the design right they will update the covers. If you have a cover, and
haven't yet contacted Barb to ask her to get it updated, she asks
that you do so if you want an ammended one.

p.s. Thanks for your help Chris R.

All of these obstacles should have been done prior to marketing,
manufacturing and shipping a product.

Each customer shouldn't have to pay double postage to mail back an inferior
product just so that the manufacture can 'get it right.' I'm still trying to
follow the logic on that.

I find this to be unprofessional and will be mailing back mine for a
complete refund.

Potential buyers should also know that these come from a house of a heavy
smoker and will come stinking of cigarettes. : (

I fully agree and would also be annoyed, if I had purchased a cover. But one
should not forget that often people do such things as a hobby and as
volunteers. Often, those people work as professional or even more
professional than real professionals, but there are also exceptions.

Even more so would have been the lack of any ethics to make things right
for the buyer. The fact the person is willing to provide a solution is
an outstanding quality.

I can name few companies selling new items in stores that don't go half
the distance.

Right, it's good that the she-sewer will correct the problem and make size
changes. Thank you Chris for providing a Vectrex!

You're very welcome. The loan will help to benefit us all in the end.
I'm just glad I finally jaunted back over to AA once more to learn of
the new covers. It had been a while since the last visit.
