Apologies for the delay, I didn't notice the results of the previous quiz had been altered.

In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be who scored on the hardest questions, and the second tiebreaker will be who posted first.

You have until 2359 GMT, 9th March, to enter.

1. In what year did the first Winter Olympics take place?
2. Which country led the medal table in the 2018 Winter Olympics with 39 medals, 14 of them gold?
3. What is the only Winter Olympic sport which is not currently open to female athletes?
4. Noriaki Kasai of Japan took part in a record 8th Winter Olympics, in which sport?
5. In which city will the 2022 Winter Olympics be held?

In which Winter Olympic sports might you use the following terms?

6. Salchow
7. Hammer
8. Goofy
9. Telemark

The following athletes won multiple gold medals at the 2018 Olympics, but in which sports?

10. Martin Fourcade
11. Marcel Hirscher
12. Ester Ledecka
13. Kjeld Nuis

which makes me wonder if Mark misread the above or was simply trying for partial credit on each.

I unfortunately saw Mark's answers before I could post my own.

Which makes me wonder if Stephen misread it.

I didn't imagine any of them won gold medals in two or more different
sports -- that's pretty rare. But two or more gold medals in one sport,
that happens all the time, so for my guesses I picked a sport where it
was possible.

I hate it when that happens.

Norway

Nordic Combined (a combination of ski-jumping and cross-country skiing)

Ski-Jumping (he was 45)

Beijing, China

Figure Skating (a jump that takes off from the back inside edge of the skate)

Curling (the team that throws last in an end)

Snowboarding (a rider that rides with their right foot forward)

Ski-Jumping (the ideal landing technique, with one foot in front of the other)

Alpine Skiing (gold - Super-G)
AND Snowboarding (gold - Parallel Giant Slalom)

As Stephen Perry implied, the wording left open the possibility of there being multiple correct answers to these questions, so for this question I would have awarded 2 points to anyone who named both sports.

Speed Skating (2 golds - 1000m and 1500m)

Cross-Country Skiing (2 golds - 30km classical and 4 x 5km Relay, 1 silver - 15km skiathlon, 2 bronzes - 10km freestyle and team sprint)
