These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2019-10-21,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers to the newsgroup in a single followup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of the Red Smarties and are
used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. For further information see
my 2019-10-16 companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian
Inquisition (QFTCI*)".

* Game 5, Round 2 - Geography - Unique Ecosystems

1. Which island is the only place in the world where lemurs can
be found?

2. In Palau, millions of *what creature* live in a lake that was
once connected to the ocean? Their evolution diverged from
their ancestors in the ocean, making them completely harmless
to humans.

3. The Racetrack Playa is famous for its "sailing stones", rocks
that leave tracks as they slide along the ground, often for
thousands of feet. In *which national park* is the Racetrack
Playa?

4. Moloch horridus, the thorny-devil lizard, is only found in one
desert on Earth. Name the country or the specific region where
the thorny devil occurs.

5. Which islands feature the only population of iguanas on earth
that have evolved the ability to dive underwater in search
of food?

6. Lake Ontario is home to a once abundant, but now very rare,
ancient species of fish. It can grow to over 7 feet long and
weigh over 240 pounds, and is capable of living for 150 years.
What fish?

7. In Utah, there is an organism named Pando that is 80,000 years
old and weighs 6,000,000 kg, making it the heaviest known
organism and one of the oldest in the world. What sort of
organism is Pando?

8. Orangutans are only found in two countries on earth.
Name *either one*.

9. The Venus flytrap is listed as a vulnerable species due to
poaching, and is native to only two US states. Name *either
one*.

10. This wetland ecosystem is completely unique on earth.
In his 1904 election bid for governor, Napoleon Bonaparte
Broward campaigned on a promise to drain it. Name it.

* Game 5, Round 3 - Canadiana - Canadian Drug Laws

1. According to the Ontario government website on cannabis
restrictions, 1 gram of dried cannabis is equivalent to how
many grams of fresh cannabis?

2. Name the federal law that restricts promotion and enticement
of cannabis products that are appealing to youth.

3. What is the maximum penalty for violating that prohibition?

4. How many cannabis plants may be legally grown in one household?

5. In Ontario, what provincial governmental body grants is
entrusted with granting store licenses and making sure stores
sell recreational cannabis safely, responsibly, and lawfully?

6. All cannabis retailers in Ontario are supplied exclusively by
what company or organization?

7. When was cannabis legalized in Canada? Full exact date required.

8. This law was the first in Canada that prohibited the import,
manufacture, possess, or sale of a particular drug, although
it was not an imprisonable offense. Name the law.

9. Please decode the rot13 for the last two questions only after you

> * Game 5, Round 3 - Canadiana - Canadian Drug Laws

In the original game this was tied with the audio round for being
the hardest in the game; and if audio rounds are excluded, it was
the 2nd-hardest round of the entire season.
