This is Rotating Quiz #160. It's a quiz quilt in the manner of
Robert Jen, only bigger -- and spelling will count.
The usual rules of conduct and posting apply. Answer slates must
be posted by noon Toronto time (zone -4) on Sunday, 2014-10-26,
which gives you 6 days and somewhat over 9 hours from the time of
posting. Have fun.
For those who weren't around when Robert was posting quiz quilts,
what that means is first that each question is to be answered by a
single word. (Where a person's name is requested, you MUST give
only the surname.) Then if you write those answers one below the
other in order, by taking *one letter from each word, either upward
or downward* in one of the following ways:
Vertically
Last letter of each word
Diagonally to/from one of the left corners
you will find another word or phrase ("the quilt"). The contest
subtitle is some sort of vague or cryptic hint indicating the quilt.
To keep the scoring in integers, I'll double Robert's numbers and
allow 2 points for each correct answer with a possibility of 1 for
close tries or misspelled answers. Getting the quilt is worth
8 points, and that'll be all-or-nothing.
In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be who got points on
the *most* questions; the second tiebreaker will be who got them
on the *hardest* questions; and the third tiebreaker will be who
posted first.
My thanks to Dan Blum for running RQ 159 and for choosing questions
that enabled me to win. The winner of RQ 160, in turn, will be the
first choice to set RQ 161, in whatever manner they prefer.
