Or if you're counting players who *could* be on the field
without someone else needing to leave the game, then it's
9 in the National League and 10 in the American League.

I concede the tie-breaker to Professor Brader, who did give a more complete answer to the ambiguous question. I do not concede to the "anyone who isn't swp" rule for the same reason the ny yankees and manchester united don't have similar rules against them.
