These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2019-06-03,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers to the newsgroup in a single followup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of Unnatural Axxxe and are
used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. For further information see
my 2019-01-22 companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian
Inquisition (QFTCI*)".

* Game 3, Round 4 - Art - The Met's Portraits

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest art museum in
the US. On the 2-page handout

http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/3-4/port.pdf

you will see some of the portraits that it exhibits. In each
case we will give you the portrait number and the famous artist's
nationality, and you simply have to name the artist.

I have rearranged the round in the order of the handout. There were
two decoys, which are now interspersed with the others; answer
them if you like for fun, but for no points.

1. Architect of the Spanish Renaissance.
2. (Decoy) Flemish.
3. Dutch.
4. Dutch.
5. Spanish.
6. Dutch.
7. (Decoy) French.
8. English.
9. Spanish.
10. French.
11. French.
12. French.

* Game 3, Round 6 - Science - The Bird is the Word

Don't you know about the birds? Everybody knows about the birds.
Here's a round of ornithological questions, conspicuously missing
the chicken's motivation for traversing the thoroughfare.

1. How many toes does an ostrich have on each foot?
2. Which country is home to the most bald eagles?
3. What does a pullet become on her first birthday?
4. In birds, what is a furcula better known as?
5. What's North America's largest waterfowl?
6. What bird's nests do the Chinese use for bird's nest soup?
7. What Chinese year comes next after the Year of the Monkey?
8. What bird has the biggest *eyes*?

9. What bird family is the world's largest in population and number
of species?

10. In certain countries in Asia, this large sea bird was trained
to fetch fish for its human masters. Name that bird.

If ... it seems easier to subvert UNIX systems than most other

are the same. It is just that it is often easier to write,

systems, and that is why the UNIX system was designed in the
first place. -- Frederick T. Grampp & Robert H. Morris

Hmm. I find a number of web sites indicating that "swallows" is
correct, but others indicate, as Bruce says, that the birds are
swiftlets. Swiftlets are a type of swift, not a type of swallow.
I don't know if they were once considered a type of swallow, which
is possible since there is some resemblance; in any case I think
I'd better accept both answers.

So, 4 for *Bruce* and Erland.
