I was sure Great Britain was around 40-50 million, but that's not
a possibility. It would be interesting to see where the most populous
islands of North America rank -- I presume they are Long Island and
Montreal Island, but both below 10 million.

Congratulations Erland! You win hosting rights for RQ#294.

In retrospect I should hive given more clues as we went down the list and it gets harder to distinguish between places with only small differences in population.

Also it was a tough one to mark since correct answers were often given for the wrong question, so please let me know if there are any errors.

Thanks for playing.

cheers,
calvin

I was hoping for part marks for answers placed close to the right line.
Oh well.

> so please let me know if there are any errors.

Only one, on the first question, and it only affects 5th vs. 6th place.

Thanks! It was embarrassing that I confused the name of Hispaniola. As
it turned out, it did not matter, since the hint ">1 country" was
misleading.

I will try to have RQ 294 up tomorrow. It will be, well, a little
different from other RQs. You are warned.

Huh? You did not any answer that looked like a confusion of "Hispaniola".

Is it turned out, that was not a hint for Hispaniola. How was it misleading?

See! That is how embarrassing it was! (I entered Dominica.)

With ">1 country" appearing twice, you would think that remaining entries
would be single-country islands.

Oh. Well, I didn't, so I didn't think of that.

I realised when marking that some entrants had interpreted it that way. Apologies, but OTOH since there was only one clue each time other interpretations were equally valid.
