This is Rotating Quiz #191.

The winner will be the first choice to set RQ 192, in a manner of their choosing.

Please answer based only on your own knowledge; put all of your answers in a single posting, quoting the question before each one.

Answer slates must be posted by 6pm Philadelphia time (GMT-4) on Sunday, 2015-08-09, which gives you 7 days and some number of hours from the time of this posting.

In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be who scored on the hardest questions; and the second tiebreaker will be who posted first.

for each quotation, name the movie in which it originally appeared and the character that said it for 1 point each. no points for the actor or writer this time around. these are all from a list of famous movie quotes compiled by 'the telegraph' in the uk.

I won't be around when this quiz ends, so consider me ineligible
for that award.

Howard Beale in "Network".*

Most of the people who repeat the line after him improve the line
by dropping the first "as", and some of them change "this" to "it",
but you have correctly reproduced Beale's original version -- except
that you need to pick one spelling, "gonna" or "going to".

Buzz Lightyear in "Toy Story".*

> 8. "Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today."

Phil Connors in "Groundhog Day".*

> 9. "Why so serious?"

Annie Wilkes in "Misery".

*I have seen it, yes.

interestingly enough, the total of all the scores is 73. 73 is the best number, according to sheldon cooper.

and I was surprised at how many of you didn't know that the Harry Callaghan quote was from the movie "Sudden Impact."

the quote from "Groundhog Day" wasn't meant to be a stumper. it just worked out that way. I actually like the movie, it gets better every time I see it.

the quote from "The Dark Knight" wasn't either. but I can understand why in this case.

so if my calculations are correct and there are no scoring errors,
drum roll please ...

Mark Brader is the winner! but Mark is disqualified from hosting the next RQ, because he is on vacation. serves him right for having a life. I hope he at least takes some nice pictures for us. ;-)

so the honor of hosting the next round goes to Dan Blum! Congratulations Dan!

my condolences to Gareth, who would have done considerably better if he had read the instructions.

I had prepared to accept some answers in Swedish, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. but no one who speaks those languages natively entered. maybe next time.

Thank You all for playing.

It wasn't a vacation, it was a bridge tournament.
