Is there a theme more specific than just Dragons? There seem to be

However, he's in eastern Pennsylvania, and due to ex-hurricane Sandy,
I think we can anticipate a delay.  I don't think he'll mind me posting
this email I just got from him:

I am borrowing a connection at my old house in Glenolden PA which is 40 miles south of my present home in Doylestown PA.  Doylestown is without power.  All of it.  We expect the hospital to get back power tonight, the rest of us including the schools and businesses and homes later.  Many other towns are in a similar situation.  It's really bad.  The flooding damage is taking out whole blocks in some places.  The description above was before the really strong winds arrived.  I lost 4 trees in my yard, 3 around the pool pumps and 1 on the far side of the pool.  The fence caught that last one.  I used a crosscut hand saw to take it down this morning.  Heavier than it looks, but moved it out to the side of the house for cutting up later when power is restored.  Thank God for the gas fireplace and stove, but we cooked everything we could and now a lot is going to waste.  We're all alive, and uninjured.  The trees that I saw down, and my kids pointed out some I missed, were upwards of 5 feet across at the base.  Many were snapped in half, others had the root system come up and leave the trunk on the ground and a small mountain of roots and dirt upwards of 20 feet high.  To say this was devastating is an understatement.  The rain itself didn't do any damage where I live, but the wind that followed did.  I have heard that the New Jersey shore is underwater, from Sea Isle City to Atlantic City and up into New York City.  The larger cities are getting services restored, but many smaller communities are still hurting and will be for some time.

If you are able to send help, in any form, please donate generously to the American Red Cross and other relief organizations.

Mark, if I can ask your indulgence to please score this round as I have typed this offline and am hoping it uploads successfully.  I also hoped to do that yesterday to give whoever won the opportunity to have a Halloween themed round.  We've had enough of scary for now out here.

So we have a tie.  Stephen's tiebreaker this time is who came closer
to being correct on the answers that were scored as wrong.  Well,
Gareth had "dragon roll" on #2, and on #13 he managed to name a
D&D dragon, but the wrong one.  I had no guess for either of those.
I only beat Gareth on #15, where he said 2000-01 and I said 1942.

The *reason* I said 1942, by the way, was that I knew the right
number to subtract from the current date was 60, only I got the
arithmetic wrong!  (Why was I not informed that we were more than
10 years into the new century, *hmmm?*)

So by the margin of that slip, Gareth is the winner.  Congratulations,
sir!  And please start RQ#80 at your earliest convenience.

And thanks to Stephen for writing the contest and helping with the

cleanup continues. posting here helped me as part of a return to normalcy, and was all I could do after sawing and moving trees all day.  slowly but surely, we're getting things back in order.

Thank You again, Mark, for doing a great job scoring and asking all the right questions to make it fair.  and you may now take back all this nice cold canadian air as we have plenty of our own again. ;-)
