Not far from France's gift, Wall Street has seen more than a few fund
managers lured to the dark side* by insider trading. Earlier this
month, Raj Rajaratnam was forced to shutter the Galleon Group after
being accused of illegal hedge fund transactions. Drexel's Michael
Milken and Ivan Boesky, the latter serving as part of the inspiration
for Gordon Gekko's character in the movie "Wall Street", are among
many others who gained infamy after they were caught insider trading.

LEFLORE, Ron

Quilt answer: EIFFEL, fourth letters down. Looks like my memory of '70s
trivia is pretty good. LeFlore and Sayers came out of nowhere.

4th column up is LEFTIE, which I suppose is a reference to those left-
pondians who immigrated to the US through ellis island.

it rained here in philadelphia, so we only got about 125 kids instead
of the usual 300. so there is way too much candy left over, as my
wife was handing it out instead of me. (I just tell the kids, "here,
let me do that, my hands are much bigger than yours" as I grab a half
dozen or so full sized bars to drop in their bags. for some bizzare
reason, the kids like me for this and their parents ... well, lets
just say not so much.)

I have no idea.

KAMIKAZE.

> What English colonist introduced tobacco cultivation to Jamestown and

Well, it needs an F in it... ROLFE? Then 4th letter down and I'll
guess JONES for the singer, although I thought the only singer Jones
I can think of was Welsh.

Gotta be SUNFLOWER.

GATES?

Oh, I'll guess PHILIPS.

My sons have a whole book of these, but I was spared most of them by
luck (not so for my wife).

Incorrect (but I love how that worked out using the most reasonable
wrong history answer).

New record low here as well, but the weather was fine. I think Saturday
Halloweens mean more kids at parties instead of out on the streets.

Five points.

Correct (a 70s themed quilt would have been awesome ;-).

Correct (100,000 years, that is [I looked it up because it didn't make
sense]. The original usage was to say "May you live 100,000 years" to
the emperor!).

Correct (and now Jack, which was originally a nickname for John, is the
number one first name in England. In the U.S., we'll see something
similar when Juan becomes the #1 boy's name in 2024 ;-).
