Timing Question:

I have Heidelberg Castle in play. Gratiano has a Baltimore Purge and
it is my untap phase.

Requires a ready vampire. If this vampire is Ravnos, this action is at
+1 stealth. Put this card on the acting vampire. During your untap
phase, burn this card, and each other Methuselah chooses a ready
vampire he or she controls who is not older than this vampire. If you
control a ready Lasombra, you choose the vampires instead. This vampire
and the chosen vampires go to torpor.

Is there time after the *choice* and before the *chosen vampires go to
torpor* to tap the Heidelberg Castle?

The use of the Heidelberg is not during an action, so I do not see why
not. I just wanted to make sure,

Tap HC before the choice.

your response of Tap Heidelburg before the choice is a little less than
satisfying.

Are you saying that there is not time after the choice and before the
chosen go to torpor?

If so, why not?

I'm not sure I find your answer as strange as David seems to. But I
do think it clearly matters: I imagine David is considering the case
of a Methuselah who wants to use the Heidelberg prior to the effect
of the purge (likely to remove equipment, retainers, and/or blood from
a minion destined for torpor) but also wants the information gleened
from the decisions made in order to know which little piggies are going
to torpor and which ones are staying home.

David's case was one where the Methuselah with the Purge and a Lasombra
controlled the Castle, so it really doesn't matter -- that Methuselah
makes all the choices.

In your case, though, it would.

In that case, yes, you can tap the Castle after the Purger has
made his or her selections.

Does that extend to, eg, New Inquisition? If I have HC, one vamp with
one blood, and one vamp with 0 blood, and my predator chooses the 0
blood vamp during his untap to take a point of damage, can I tap the HC
to transfer the blood over?

Can I tap the HC before it's destroyed by an Unnatural Disaster?

Good point.

You're right. The application of the Purge is an effect and should
be treated as such -- no response stack.

(Reversal of previous ruling above).
