Midget: Malkavian antitribu 3
Sabbat
Ability: Infernal. Animal retainers lose their abilities while Midget
is acting or is in combat.
Bestial Vengeance
Requires a Laibon.
[ani] Only usable before range is determined. Choose a retainer on
this Laibon. This combat, this Laibon is immune to frenzy cards and
the opposing minion takes 1 damage during strike resolution if the
retainer is ready. A vampire can play only one Bestial Vengeance each
combat.
[ANI] As above, but for 2 damage.
And I'm not asking because we use much Animalism up here in Boston...
not at all...
Thanks,
CJay
Ready in any context means "in the ready region (and not on the way to torpor)".

No.
Midget just stops the Retainer from doing their thing.
No Mr Winthrop/Raven Spy/Raptor intercept.
No Jackie Therman maneuvers.
No Ghoul Retainers yoinking guns and "going Matrix on Midget"...
But hilariously enough, Ilomba works just fine.... :)
Wrong. Midget's ability only concerns animal retainers (Raven Spy,
Murder of Crows, Wolf Pack, ...).
Midget's ability doesn't remove Jackie Therman's maneuver, nor the
Ghoul Retainer's use of a weapon or damage.

while we're on topic, if the opposing minion plays Bestial Vengeance,
and as my strike i target the retainer with a strike that will kill it,
do I still take the additional damage or not?
the whole 'if the retainer is ready' bit and the timing with strike
resolution has me a bit unclear. if the retainer was a murder of crows
it would still do it's regular damage during strike resolution, and this
is the same time, slightly before 'prevent damage'...i think....argh.
in what instances would the 'if the retainer is ready' actually be
required card text?

Why would the Ilomba not lose its abilities?
Because Ilomba is usually on Midget, munching away at him. So Midget
does not affect him. Too much work! going crazy!
Although that would be one very clever way of killing off Ilomba's on
your own vamps. Rush Midget/Stanislava, then do some kind of 1 damage
to everything in combat. Poof goes Ilomba, and you survive it...
Why not?
Midget
Clan: Malkavian antitribu (group 3)
Capacity: 3
Disciplines: DEM obf pre
Sabbat: Infernal. Animal retainers lose their abilities while Midget
Strike resolution effects are simultaneous.
You take the damage at the same time the retainer does.
You won't take damage in the following rounds, however, since the retainer will
no longer be ready.
Of you could kill the retainer with first strike.

Burning the retainer => retainer is no longer ready.
Mask Empathy. Weather Control. Ranged strikes at long range targeting the
retainer. Body of Sun. Target Retainer.
