If I remember correctly, a minion receives the NRA taint when the
action resolves - that is, when it ends successfully or is blocked.

Suppose Vampire A bleeds and is blocked. Vampire A receives the NRA
taint. Vampire A plays Form of Mist at superior to continue the
action. Vampire B plays Mask of a Thousand Faces to become the acting
minion, untapping Vampire A. Vampire B successfully bleeds and
receives the NRA taint. Vampire A, though untapped, cannot now perform
a bleed action because it has received the NRA taint due to being
blocked.

Is this correct?

If true, another question:
A bleeds.
B attempts block
C Mask1k to continue
Can A bleed again after action resolution?

Yes. The previous bleed action did not resolve while A was acting.
That is, A's action did not end successfully, nor was it blocked, so
A did not receive the NRA taint.

Can someone please explain to me why the word "taint" was chosen to
describe this effect?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taint_%28slang%29

Because of the word's actual meaning, not the fad one.

Interesting.

I assume that, in the above example, Form of Mist at superior and other
combat effects Vampire A might have played do count for Mask of a
Thousand Faces' playing restriction ("Not usable if any action
modifiers or other effects have been used that could not have been used
if this vampire were the acting vampire"). Is this correct?

The key text you quoted was "or other effects". Form of Mist is one of
those effects, so a Masking minion would have to have the capability of
playing that effect in order to Mask.

Yes, all effects count when checking for "action modifiers or other effects".

The idea is not the 20+ masks. will have deck posted after our
storyline tourney, cos the shock value against those i play with will
be so much better!
