Hello,

I just wanted to make sure that the card/rules have been either changed or
clarified to change this card so much. People have been saying lately that
if the vamp using BR is block that they still don't replace the card due to
card text, yet another part of the card text is ignored (the manuver).
Why is one part ingnored and the other not? Or are they mistaken?

Thanx in advance,

Card text is as follows

[in bold] Do not replace until the end of the action [in bold]

(D) Enter combat with target vampire, gain an optional maneuver if
combat occurs.

As with all cards you follow the bold texts instructions, wthere
blocked or not. The actual card text is what is blocked. So by playing
bums rush, you agree that until the action is over, you will not
replace the card.

If it is blocked, you fight the blocker.
If it is unblocked, you follow the instructions on the card (Enter
combat with vampire X gain optional maneuver)

If a bums rush is blocked, you do not gain a maneuver, and you do not
replace the card.

Correct. The Bold part of an action card's text above the normal
text tells you something about *taking* the action (normally something
like "requires a Prince" or "+1 stealth" or "Do not replace...")
Obviously the first two ("requires a..." and "+N stealth") apply
whether you're blocked or not - in fact they apply before the
idea of "am I blocked?" even comes up. Likewise, the question
of replacing comes up long before you find out if you're blocked
or not (action cards are normally replaced as soon as they're
played, like all cards), so the text about replacing cannot
depend on being not blocked, and is therefore in bold.

So likewise, you could not replace the Bum's Rush to see if you got
more stealth once someone tried to block you. That could cause an
"impossible" cycle of possibilities if you could replace the card once
you got blocked:

1. "I Bum's Rush", not replacing the action card.

2. (response by opponent) "I block the rush".

3. "Oh, then I replace the Bum's Rush since it failed."

4. "Oh, look I got stealth. I'm now Bum's Rushing with
stealth."

5. (response by opponent) "In that case, I can't block."

...in which case the acting meth could never have drawn for the
stealth in the first place.
