It will not take place in the city sporting palace... but in a 4 star

More information on how the EC will function over 2 days ? How many games,
how each one counts, etc ?
Any other places where players who can't afford a 4-star hotel can sleep ?

Orpheus
Nearly made it to LSJ's Killfile !!
And even more important to me is there any place I can work out near the
hotel?
The hotel does not seem to have a fitness center.

Yeah, urm, thats a major concern for me to.. hurm *cough*
;o)
I heard there was a good brothel not far away. But then, this is Italy,
there MUST be a good brothel not faraway !!
[I should know, I'm more italian than anything...]
As for the hotel, last time we slept in a car, so what's the use really ?
[have a good night's sleep before a big tournie maybe ?]
Weenie Potence again it is? ;-)

Maybe it'll be Ravera to give you more infotmation about the EC
organization over 3 days... as soon as we set the last details.
For now I can link, for you, a couple of local site about our city and
local accomadation, so you can start to plan your trip around here...
that's:
Torino Turistica: http://www.comune.torino.it/canaleturismo/en/
Turismo Torino:
http://www.turismotorino.org/index.php?id=501&navCmd=reset
(accomodation search)
Comune Torino: http://www.comune.torino.it/ (city main site - in
italian)
Most of those sites are multilanguage, or mai european language.
More infos will follow (I hope on www.vtes.it... stay tuned!)
Dr Jester
Thinking the same myself, I've so far found Hotel Serenella
(http://www.albergoserenella.com/) to be the best alternative. 30 Euro
for a single, non-bathroom room, and 40 Euros for ditto double room.
There is a Youth Hostel in Torino, but it seems to be a bit off-centre
and overall didn't appeal to me
(http://www.hostelz.com/hostel/7662-Torino).
I found the Wikitravel guide (http://wikitravel.org/en/Turin) helpful.
Good Luck.

PS: or share a room?
WOO-HOO! :-) I love it. The two-day format is so much better (IMO) than
just having one huge day of 100+ people.

The way it worked at the NAC this year, and I believe the standard way for
2-day championships to work, is: day 1 is a regular 3R + Final constructed
VTES tournament. However, as far as day 2 (and the ultimate championship)
is concerned, the only thing that matters from day 1 is whether you place in
the top 40 players to make the cut for day 2. Your GW and VP totals from
day 1 don't carry over in any way. Day 2, then, is also a regular 3R +
Final constructed VTES tournament, in which the 40 highest-ranked players
from day 1 compete for the title of 'Real Ultimate Champion'. The winner of
the Championship is simply the winner in the finals on day 2. You don't
have to use the same deck on days 1 and 2 (but can if you want to).

Thanks for the information. I plan to be there.
I request that the qualifier on the 24th not start
until the afternoon, as many travelers are likely
to arrive that morning. It's just one guy's request
though.
Nice job on the World Cup.

Two more reasons for me to try to be there : the pleasure of seeing you
again, and there's no way we could let an american become European Champion.
;-)
BTW, it's something that has always surprised me in VTES tournies : as much
as I loved meeting players from all over the world, it's weird to me that
there were belgian and swiss Frnehc Champions, or that someone from another
continent could be the champion (imagine Stéphane Lavrut as an Americna
Champion lol !). I'm torn between the "the more the merrier" and the "it
doesn't sound very logical" part.

Hey, Zidane did all the work !! ;-)
Orpheus, Italian champion of France (infiltrated on the evening when Italia
won the Cup).
Andrea,
are you gonna have the jar of sugar cubes, coffee beans, lemon, and
what i though might have been grapa?
oscar
NECROSUGAAAAAAAAARS !!!!
You'd better have them if you don't want to deal with some infuriated and
desperately sober frenchmen !! ;-)

Oh... I think you may find that there is a way. :-)

I see what you mean, but I think it's not uncommon in the universe of
competitive events for this kind of thing to be possible. Consider tennis,
or golf: neither sport's US Open has a citizenship requirement, and didn't a
Spaniard win the French Open this year? (And Stefan Ferenci certainly was
in with a chance at being North American champion last year, and Brian
Moritz with a chance at being European Champion...)

Oh, I don't know about ALL the work.... I think I saw Trezeguet miss a
fairly important penalty toward the end there.....
Josh

Do I see a pattern emerging here ?
JO, I told you already you're not my type !! Not even for money !!!
Well, not the kind of money you can afford anyway.
the site for the event is
http://ec2006.vtes.it
(Of course there will be some sugarcubes but I can't assure NECROcubes)
Very soon updated and full information will appear on the official
site.
lol. Ok, then just bring the cubes and a few virgin girls (if there are any
left in Italy above 12 years old...) and I will take care of the "nécro"
part. ;-)
Given the request for alternative (cheaper) accommodation
for the EC, Andrea Ravera put together a list of
bed & breakfast and lower category hotels, and asked
me to post it to the newsgroup, waiting for the site to go
online. So here you are. All of these should be at about
10-15 minutes walking distance from the location of the EC.
Cheers,
Emiliano
