Here's a quick recap about Paris' public transports: (a "t+" ticket is
a ticket with "t+" printed on it. It's the standard ticket, sold in
all subway booths and at desks in subway).
- A single "t+" ticket would bring you anywhere using the Metro. The
number of connections doesn't matter.
- A single "t+" ticket would bring you anywhere in Paris using the
RER. This can be used in connection with a Metro.
- A single "t+" ticket would let you use buses for 1h30m. Bus drivers
also sell tickets, which are usable on one bus only (no connection
possible).
- If you want to go outside Paris (that'd be using the RER - and,
possibly, the Metro), you'll have to buy a ticket to that place - and
another for the way back.

I filled in this link - I hope it'll be useful to you.

Quick description: The blue lines link the place to the closest Metro
entrance.
Reading the "Getting there" parts: We assume you'll be leaving from
the R.I.P.
Suppose you want to visit the Centre Georges Pompidou, a museum of
modern art:
"Getting there: Metro Line 3 (République), Metro Line 11 (Rambuteau)"
means "jump on line 3, stop at Republique, change to line 11, stop and
Rambuteau - you're there."
If there's any place you've heard of and want to visit, but have no
idea how to get there, please send me an email (floppyzedolfin /at/
gmail /dot/ com), I'll update the map.

Message to players:
The European Championship events (Legendary Vampire, Last Chance
Qualifier, EC Day 1, EC Day 2, First Chance Qualifier) will require
decklists and opaquely sleeved decks.

Thanks a lot!
We'll see you next week.
Are you guys going to be flipping cars and lighting things on fire
when people show up? Need help? ;)
Brandon
Are Ravnos banned? And can Assamite veil themselves?
Tiago
Ravnos must become Anarchs (or be deport... err, burned), and
Assamites can only veil themselves lightly and in a non-religious
way. ;)
Btw, some of us are arriving on a pretty late flight on Thursday, how
late does the Metro/RER run? We're probably just taking a group taxi
from the airport (Charles de Gaulle), but it's good to know the
options :)
-Petri
They run until 1 A.M. approx.
Last RER B leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) at 22:50.
Last 350 bus leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle at 22:40.
Last Roissybus leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle at 23:00.
-Petri
Indeed, from the airport the last RER leaves earlier (JIBY : 22 55
from CDG2, 22:58 from CDG1).
Night bus N140 leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) at 01:00,
02:00, 03:00 and 04:00. (arrives at Paris Gare de l'Est).
Night bus N143 leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) at 00:02,
00:32, 01:02, 01:32, ...
If you arrive past 23h, I recommend using N143. It might bring you to
Paris Gare de l'Est before metros stop working.
I'll update the map to add information about getting to Roissy from
Paris and the other way round.
Hi
Do you know if there are any players living near to Bagneux or Bourg-
la-Reine??
I'm going to Paris tomorrow and i'm going to stay in a friends house,
but the first few days i'll be visiting Paris with my wife.
My main concern is not having transportation to Bagneux at night after
the final rounds (11pm), or taking too much time to get back "home".
Thanks
card sleeves required?
There are some players in Bourg-la-Reine, but some may have moved, I
need to check.
best regards
Ok, thanks :) I'll just need to get introduced to them at the
tournament if you dont mind :), to see if i can manage a ride.
Please don't place them at my table! lol!
Cheers, see you next week.
Update on this point.
Organization team decided that sleeves will be encouraged, but not
required (for all events of the EC 2010). A player showing up with an
unsleeved deck will not be disqualified for not having sleeves.
Hello,
Will the continuing strikes and fuel deprivation etc affect the EC?
I'd assume Paris being, well.. Paris, it'd be somewhat insulated from
the harsher effects of the general strikes and such. But it is a
concern.
Naturally, I rely mostly on the news I receive from France, so a local
point-of-view might differ from mine. :)
Cheers,
-Otto
I'm currently more annoyed by the fact that when I bought the very
cheap flight ticket already in summer (thanks for the tip Otto!) I
decided on visiting Paris as quikcly as possible, hence I'll be
arriving late Thursday night and leaving late-ish on Monday.
Well, just last weekend I noticed that one of my favourite comic book
artists, the living legend Jean "Mobius" Giraud is having an extremely
inviting looking exhibition in Paris. Naturally, the place (Fondation
Cartier pour l’art contemporain, situated some 3-4 kilometres from
RIP) being a museum is closed on Monday :(
Luckily it is open daily from 11am to 8pm, so if the last round
finishes off very quikcly I'll be able to dash to the museum and have
a couple of hours to spend there before it closes. So, either keel
over and die or finish me off quickly... ;)

Jinxed again!
-Janne/ Lönkka
I can build a Daughters intercept-combat deck for you. You'll have
*plenty* of time for the museum, *and* you'll contribute to the
hilarity level of the game tables. It's win-win! :D
-Petri
Indeed!
Recent news about the massive stirke the unions have announced for
Thursday are not assuring.
Especially as I think that plenty of VTESers, like me & Petri, are due
in that day...

Dammit! Had to bite my nails due to probs caused by an Icelandic
volcano when I flew to ECQ at Copenhagen, this time it is disgrunteled
French workers. What next?
-Janne/Lönkka
Yeah.. we were just alking about this last night with the Tampere
crew.
Perhaps you guys should pack some hiking gear, prepare for a jaunt
from de Gaulle to RIP? ;)
Thursday should be a strike day.
It should impact the RER B line, from Roissy Charles de Gaulle to
Paris.
I recommend using the Roissy Bus to Opera, and then the Metro 3 line
to Porte de Bagnolet, in order to get to the R.I.P, if arriving before
the last bus.
Otherwise, the night bus to Gare de l'Est, and then a taxi.
Metros should be OK (or, at least, less impacted than RER B).
Here's the R.I.P.'s address:
44, rue Louis Lumière
75020 PARIS
Looking at the map it seems to only be a bit over 20km from the
airport to R.I.P., so I'd imagine a direct taxi from the airport would
not be too horribly expensive either assuming there are multiple
people (?).
-Petri
Or, if you can't get a taxi, it should be paved road. Nothing like
hiking on paved road, eh. No pesky woodlands with thorns and bushes to
hinder your travels.. :D
Pack light!
