In any case, all the news servers I can find access to cost, like,
$10.00 a month or so. Which I don't really wanna pay for usenet
access, as I was getting it for free up until very recently (and am
still, in effect, paying for it). So in any case, anyone have any
lines on free news servers I can access?
Thanks,
-Peter
I can't help with that but https://news.individual.net/register.php is
10 Euros for a year.

I use and recommend this: http://www.aioe.org/
It's free (but asks for donations) and has good quality. I started using it
after my ISP's Usenet server went all wonky and started dropping articles
from the alt.-groups.

Huh. That seems to have worked quite nicely. Thanks!
Although I'm a little freaked out by all the security warnings and
references to Italian courts...

Cool--thanks! I'm currently trying out the free "stick it to the man"
news server, but I'll see how that goes...

I'm glad it worked. :-)
And about the references to Italian courts: I think it's there because of
clueless individuals, who do not understand the concept of jurisdiction.
So what they're trying to say is: "Please don't complain that we're breaking
the laws of your country. We don't *have* to obey the laws of your country.
We're not there."
HG
Yeah, that makes sense. SO I was looking around for a link to donate
some money and couldn't find one. You know where there is info on that?

Ah, I found it. It's "cleverly" hidden in their front page,
http://www.aioe.org/
The last sentence reads: "Those who are satisfied by these service[sic]
should make a donation to this project."
The phrase "make a donation" is a link. If you look very very carefully,
you'll see it's a link - because it has a teeny tiny amount of bluish tinge
compared to the other text... :-P
HG
Ah, fair enough--I just looked for a "donation" link in the sidebar. And
didn't find one. And gave up.
Thanks again!
