Could White-Wolf be doing something different with VTES?

White-Wolf site and also listening to the burgeoning rustle about the
end being near for VTES, I felt like that maybe White-Wolf is taking
VTES in a different direction.
Then I noticed this post

Many of white-wolf's gaming books and releases are moving to an online
forum for release.
I am thinking that White-Wolf may be releasing VTES as a pure online
type format.
They were trying something with VTES online (not to be confused with
the Jyhad Onlne) and even marketing it in there 3rd edition release.
I think now that the ownership has changed that they may use their
game programming resources and push a much more polished VTES online
version of the card game. So they may stop releasing expansions quite
so often but do what the above blog talks about. A major release
once or twice a year. Then use the online forum to introduce new
cards just like the promo packs.
Again just a theory but I honestly think that VTES is far from dead.
I appreciate what other players think and Im curious what others think
on this.

Which certainly is a possibilty, but not measurably more likely than WW
moving VTES to a pure popsicle stick format or a pure telepathic format.

Apparently (well, according to the word on the street), VTES is
currently in some sort of business based/contractural limbo. That will
likely get resolved at some point. It seems likely that at some point in
the near future, VTES will either continue to be produced as it
currently is (or some approximation of it), or it won't. But I suspect
that a pure online format isn't really in, ahem, the cards.

Where did you get the information about the business based/contractual
limbo. Sounds interesting. Any more information on this?

Can't you read? He heard it on the street. Peter is known to associate
with the ugly underbelly of the vtes world. The less you know about it,
the better!

Heh. Didn't you know that Peter works for White Wolf? He's like the
eyes and ears, uh, fingers of WW...
Seriously, though, I'd be interested in further info on this as well,
as it's the first I've heard of anything like this. I guess I don't
get out 'on the street' that often.

Well, the word on the street (and by "street" I mean "interwebs") is
that a/the contract between WW and WotC that allows them to publish VTES
expired. And apparently hasn't been renewed/renegotiated yet. But then,
that could all be just more supposition. The street isn't a very
reliable font of information, historically. But at least this sounds
feasible.

Yeah it was a panoramic composite with the camera. You can see two
Men's rooms in the background when there should only be one and the
cut table in the foreground.. Turned out rather humorous though so I
kept it.

I was so going to just put a Gremlins reference and leave it at that,
