Deck Name : Anti VA
Author : The Lasombra
Description :
AuspexFortitude and AuspexGuns are plentiful on the tournament scene.
This deck attempts to attack their weaknesses by taking almost no
actions at stealth, doing damage that can't be prevented by fortitude,
and that neutralizes weapons. Uta Kovacs special abilities are the
key.

It neither works around fortitude nor neutralizes weapons.
I don't see the value of adding it to the deck.

Your best source of V:TES information.
Now also selling boxes and individual cards.
Swap out some Deflections for Telepathic Misdirections? if Carna gets
pentexed, you'll have a hard time stopping votes. or anything that
isn't a (D) action.
I would be tempted to splash in a Form of Corruption or maybe a
Temptation for Uta to play. they do start at 0 stealth, and are pretty
strong if you actually get one through. an extra bleeder every turn
can help mop up a defeated prey.
This deck is allmost identical to mine. I allways get those surprised
"What the...? Tremere in HtH combat???" looks :) Thou I have some
Biothaumaturgical experiments for extra damage and maneuvers to catch
up with that weenie with a magnum. I've also throwed in a Black
Gloves. Not sure I will leave them there, but in a single game I had
them, that was a very strong argument against any attempts to block
me.
With only six Apportations, and no other manuevers, I would cut a few
Serenadings for space, to fit in some Theft of Vitae and the Ruins of
Ceoris.

There should be some Theft of Vitae in here. I play a lot of
Fortitude decks, and Theft gives me fits. In particular, using a
Biothaumaturgic Experiment to manuever to long range, Theft,
Apportation, Blood Fury is a good way to put down minions who have
blood on them and a fistful of prevention. I know that
Biothaumaturgic Experiment is done at stealth, but given your
commitment to the incredibly dubious Serenading the Kami, I don't
think putting in one Experiment would hurt you.
I'm not a fan of Telepathic Tracking. I can see why it is in here,
but I think six is overkill. If used in the early game, it may not be
enough to get past S:CE anyway. I think surviving to a mid or end
game, and picking targets might be a better strategy, letting you go
with four or fewer Telepathic Trackings. Multiact or multireact may
serve better against S:CE. Aura Reading would definitely let you know
when it is time to unload on opponents.

Aura Reading might be a faster option for hand cycling, and will help
with the trump combat angle. You also could use it in conjunction
with the Heart of Cheating.

If any equipment at all is going in, the Bowl of Convergence should go
in. Given that Uta is such a focus, I would add Ruins of Ceoris in
here.

Without having like 8x Govern, I think your crypt is too big. You don't
really need DOM in this deck. Inferior dominate is fine. Either retool
for Governs or put in some smaller guys. Cohn Rose and Eugenio Estevez
would work well, if you want to keep the crypt mostly Tremere. Otherwise
you've got Antonio d'Erlette, Yasmin and Selena. You could even get a
couple dom/tha guys to run errands. They are cheap.

I think the Bowl belongs here just because Carna likes it so much. You
also might consider the Ivory Bow. I know it doesn't directly meet the
goals of the deck, but it's so good. Sometimes built-in rush + Ivory Bow
is all you need.

I wouldn't have the Thefts. He's punching so that Fortitude won't
work, and that covers most prevent situations realistically except for
the [PRO] Flesh of Marble-Agg type decks. Using the experiments to
run to close, Blood Rage/Fury + Taste of Vitae would work fine for
blood regain. I'd potentially consider putting in Target Head rather
than Target Vitals. Stopping additionals and presses will help shut
down Celerity and Animalism combat.

Perhaps.
I hope to not do a lot of blocking, as Carna +8 Deflections leads to a
lot of "can I hunt" and "this vote won't target you", especially if
she's got Ankara and can throw down a lot of damage all at once.

Incredibly dubious? Free Torn Signpost that you can cycle before

BioThaum is an action that can be blocked. StK is played for free on

Target Head may work. I'll have to try them out and see. I'm
inclined to replace most of the Targets with Taste of Vitae.

I only want enough Guardian Angel to get one early. The second two
can be discarded or played as appropriate during the game.
Heart of Cheating should address everything that Barrens could do, and
more.
I've found they can be really good for King-Hit type decks. They may
not draw out S:CE all over the place, but they DO force Cel-Combat and
Ani-Combat to consider if they let the combat fizzle & get hurt more,
or dump cards they'd prefer to be using on you... It's a lovely little
catch 22. If they have a hand of Red Cards, T:H does squat (and so
would T:V) but if you catch them with a nice mixed hand... the tension
in the mind... "Do I dump the Blur to be able to press with Flash?"
"Do I dump a Carrion Crows so I can press with my Bats?" "Can I
afford to take 7 from Uta instead of 5? If I take 7 can I bin her
next round anyway???"

Dear Lasombra,
as you surely know the best way to cope with fortitude and weapons is
animalism.
Blood fury is no reliable source to deal with weapons, as long as you
need to be at close range. Your formula is too card intensive (at
least in the way I play Vtes) to have decent combats regulary. Your
vampires will at mid-game be offen exausted.
If you want to stay to a tremere deck, in my modest oppinion, I think
you can choose
Gabrielle de Righetti & Dr.John Dee. With a cheap and card effective
combo like carrion crows + theft of vitae, whether auspex-fortitude
nor auspex-guns decks will last for long. You can enter anyway combat
indirectly by stealing every turn blood with Gabrielle.
If you want anyway to use Uta Kowacs, I would apply a tested deck
system called Euroxxxx, which consists of a titled prince/justicar
vampire + a systematic rusher.
Examples: Eurobrujah, Euronosferatu ( 1/2 or 4/5), Eurotremere (3/4 or
4/5)
80-82 cards
Master-Events 10-13 (which normally include cards like, tension in the
ranks, depravity, vessel, giant´s blood, perfectionist....)
Actions + Modifiers 14-18 ( with normally include 6-8 govern or fourth
tradition, a pair of parity shift...)
Reaction 14-17 ( which include 8-10 second tradition, 4-6
deflection.....)
Combat 34-42 (with 6-8 combat-end hosers,4-6 taste of vitae,....)
In your combat module I think is better to use theft of vitae in
combination with presses and blood to water (to burn 5 blood for 1
sounds pretty good) to avoid prevention, than to use serenading kami,
maneuvers and blood fury; because in the first option you don´t need
to be acting minion to work and it can deal with non-fortitude
prevention also.
I hope this post will help you to build your desired deck.
Cheers,
Dr.Mafrune
> Dear Lasombra,
Hello Dr. Mafrune.
> as you surely know the best way to cope with fortitude and weapons is
> animalism.
No, I certainly disagree with that. Pool removal is the best way to
deal with weapons. i.e. oust the player before the weapons matter.
In those cases where you cannot oust the player before their weapons
become a concern, like when Hugh Angseesing is your grand-prey during
the second day of a continental championship tournament, is when you
need to deal with weapons with combat cards.
> Blood fury is no reliable source to deal with weapons, as long as you
> need to be at close range.
Blood Fury completely invalidates Weighted Walking Stick, the most
common source of weapon damage in large tournaments in my
experience. .44 Magnum being close second, but that is going to be
used by the celerity using vampires and thaumaturgy cannot compete on
the maneuver field with that deck in any case.
>Your formula is too card intensive (at least in the way I play Vtes) to have decent combats regulary.
My formula is 1 combat on my turn for 8 turns. Uta rushes, and until
I gain a third vampire, that is my only action. That's plenty
regularly.
> Your vampires will at mid-game be offen exhausted.
Not in my experience with this deck.
> If you want to stay to a tremere deck, in my modest oppinion, I think

That's a completely different deck, which I have. See also:
http://www.TheLasombra.com/decks.htm
> With a cheap and card effective combo like carrion crows + theft of vitae, whether auspex-fortitude
> nor auspex-guns decks will last for long.
Theft is prevented 100% by Immortal Grapple. Uta + Depravity +
Serenading the Kami = four hand damage with no combat cards played,
six with Blood Fury. That will remove most auspex minions.
> You can enter anyway combat
> indirectly by stealing every turn blood with Gabrielle.
Indirectly doesn't work.
If losing 2 blood is preferable to the victim than combat, then they
are in control.
The point of a rush deck is have control myself, not to give it to my
prey.
Indirect combat is like bad bruise bleed.
> If you want anyway to use Uta Kowacs, I would apply a tested deck

Which is what I have, Trois + Uta.

I disagree. The longer you are in combat the more likely it is that
something bad will happen to your minions. The one or two points of
damage prevention from permanent sources (flak jacket, guardian angel,
kevlar vest) won't sustain your minions help over multiple rounds.
> I hope this post will help you to build your desired deck.
No, you seem this deck discarded to fit your notions of a Tremere
deck.
Thanks for trying though.

This is not a comment that can be applied to this case. Don´t play the
"smart boy"... of course if I play a weenie-dom/dem/pre or crossed
politics if you are my prey/target you have lot of chances of being
ousted... and is this the solution to cope with weapons? That was not
the point.
If your deck is around combat, I make comments to deal for+weapons
WITH combat, and in my personal experience animalism is one of the
best forms to cope with both.

The blood fury is really good when you are the reacting vampire, if
you are the acting vampire like Uta in combat is not so good, the
other vampire will strike with bare hand instead of the stick.

Again.... "smart boy". In vtes there´s always a triumph card vs
another. That is nothing new. I thought the point was for+weapons.
Objectively see both combos:
Kami+fury
It works against grapple. It works against for. total damage 5.
Invalid weapon strike.
Not valid at ranged. Not valid against dodge. Not valid if not acting.
Only affordable with Uta or Ankara.
Theft + crows
Do works halve with grapple. If the other vampire is empty or dodges
works halve. If the other minion has a weapon you get striked by it.
Need two disciplines.
Total damage 4. You can gain 2 blood. Difficult to prevent with any
discipline or method. Works also ranged.
I think the second combo has more advantages than the first.

This is a absolutely solid and valid argument. If you don´t rush you
are not controlling the situation.

Please, finish to read what I have written, then make your critic. A
full mechanism of deck making is explained. Make critic of it, not
just after two line reading.

Another solid argument. You want a deck that can win on a heavy combat
enviroment.
I thought it was tinkered for a less combative enviroment. That is why
I proposed the blood to water formula.

I propose a tested deck system where a simmilar deck like yours can be
perfectly fitted and you say that I can´t fit a deck like yours???????
Don´t really see the point of insulting me.

I didn't denigrate you, there is no call for diminutives or harassment
of persons on this thread.

Agreed.
An Uta Kovacs deck is 100% the point.
> If your deck is around combat, I make comments to deal for+weapons
> WITH combat, and in my personal experience animalism is one of the

Ok.
But that won't be an Uta Kovacs deck, and thus is completely
inappropriate while discussing this deck.
> The blood fury is really good when you are the reacting vampire, if
> you are the acting vampire like Uta in combat is not so good, the

And bare hands will be prevented with Guardian Angel, or Flak Jacket,
or Kevlar Vest.
Convincing your opponents to play by your rules is how you make combat
win.
> Again.... "smart boy".
Again, don't call me boy.
The point of the deck is Uta Kovacs, Thaumaturgy, and getting around
weapons and fortitude.
Notice the 4 copies of Uta there?
> Theft + crows
Doesn't work with the minions in the deck.
See deck.
> I think the second combo has more advantages than the first.
It has different advantages, certainly. It isn't this deck.
Your advice to throw this deck away and play a different one has no
constructive value.

Done.

No thanks.
You couldn't be bothered to understand the deck presented, so your
suggested changes of "use a different crypt, use different
disciplines" has no value in this thread and will not improve this
deck.

It is designed for tournament combat. Majesty will be prevalent.
Weenie Auspex will be prevalent. Ventrue Antitribu will be
prevalent.

I say that you did not apply it to my deck at all.
Your proposal: Completely different crypt, completely different
disciplines.
> Don´t really see the point of insulting me.
Indeed.
That's why there weren't any insults to "you" in the reply.
My mastery of the English language while typing is historically
impaired, see also the missing words from many of the sentences in my
original reply. It may appear that you are reading things into the
words chosen that are not there.
As an example:
"No, you seem this deck discarded to fit your notions of a Tremere
deck."
Should have been:
"No, you seem to believe that this deck should be discarded to build a
different Tremere deck."
Have a nice day.
Carpe noctem.
Lasombra
No, absolutely not. If I say that this deck fits in the structure I
posted is because truthfully think you can make a deck with this
structure which is quite the same.
Let´s make an example:
Deck name: Lasombra´s Eurotremere
Crypt
5 Uta Kovacs
2 Gabrielle
2 Dr.John Dee
1 Troius
2 Others
Library 82
Master 12
2 Guardian Angel
2 Fame
3 Villein
1 Arcane Library
1 Giants
1 Depravity
2 Blood doll
Actions 16
6 Govern the unaligned
4 Magic of the smith
2 Parity Shift
1 heart
1 flak
1 kevlar
1 ankara
Reaction 15
6 deflection
9 second tradition
Modiers + Combat 39 ( because kami is considered combat also)
5 serenading the kami
5 telepathic tracking
2 taste of vitae
7 blood fury
7 apportation
4 soul burn
4 target vitals
5 rego motus
It´s pretty simmilar. Don´t you think so?
PD: Excuse me for the "smart boy", sometimes I´m a little edgy.

You mean like this one from a year ago?

That one does ok.
It allows too much intercept to be cycled by weenie Auspex or Ventrue
Antitribu.
To more effectively fight those specific decks, which I will see in my
next tournament, I need to keep as much intercept in their hands
unplayed as possible.
Magic of the Smith allow them to cycle 3/4/5/6 cards ... (on the qui
vive, eyes of arbuz, eagle sight superior, enchanted senses, telepatic
misdirection/my enemy's enemy, precognition/spirit's touch).

Those are the very few actions that are worth the risk.
One for Uta, to get a Ruins or the Heart or a Kevlar Vest, and one for
the Tremere to get the Ankara Citadel. I will expect to discard them
if they come up while I am next to the weenie Auspex or Ventrue
Antitribu decks.
