Thunderground Comics, St. Albert/Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
# of Players: 12
Winning Player: Travis Flaman
Winning Clan: Brujah
Key Minion: Pug Jackson ("Beatdowns at an efficient price!")
Motivation: Gehenna

After a fairly fast-paced couple of preliminary rounds, and some cake,
the final table featured:

Kourch Chan's "Judge and Executioner, Part 2" starring Jaroslav Pascek
(Brujah, Motivated by Gehenna) -->
Travis Flaman's "Brujah Bundi Bruisers" (Gehenna) -->
Jason Switner's "Laibon Legacy" (Ishtarri, Secrecy) -->
Shawn Zinyk's "The Legend of Massassi" (Osebo, Gehenna) -->
Cory Hrushka's unnamed Nosferatu royalty deck (Jyhad)

Travis wasted no time putting the hurt on Jason's Ishtarri, and it was
only a good early draw of combat (avoidance) cards that kept Ayo Igoli
and Undele on the table. That, plus Travis soon had other things to
worry about -- Jaroslav was building up!

This put the fear into Cory, too, who couldn't get much forward
momentum going past Jaroslav's permanent intercept (+1 built-in plus
Mr. Winthrop) combined with Second Traditions (for another +2!). Cory
was pretty much stuck only doing things his prey would allow. He would
go on to name as Anathema minions controlled by every player EXCEPT
his prey! ("Safest place on the table," Shawn remarked.)

Between Travis's focused bad-assery, Kourch's monstrosity (Jaroslav
with Heroic Might and a Sengir Dagger for 5 aggravated damage a hit!),
Jason's votes, Cory's cross-table shenanigans, and Shawn's reasoned,
calming influence over us all, it was a really balanced table. So much
so that the game timed out.

The winner, seeded in first place going into the final round with 2
Game Wins and 5.5 VP, was Travis Flaman, putting the lie to the theory
that combat decks aren't winners! Way to go, sir!

Thanks to everybody for coming out to play, especially the three for
whom this was their first tournament: Peter Washburn, Ryan Buhler, and
Stephen Svenson. An extra heaping of gratitude goes to Peter for
saving my ass from the logistical nightmare that would have been an 11-
player event... And for doing it with an out-of-the-box KoT Ventrue
starter deck... With which he scored a VP! Watch out for this guy,
folks!

And as always, thanks to our host, Roy Kim of Thunderground Comics,
for making us feel so incredibly welcome. And for the cake! Nom-nom-
nom!
