We had 36 players gathering for the Northern France European
Qualifier, with, as usual, many of the top French players. After 3
rounds of difficult battles, 5 players got the chance to play final
round together (and sorry for Florian Prosper, 6th just as last year,
with a very fair 2GW6)

Ranking before final was was:
5 Lucas BONROY 1 - 2GW9 - ventrue 3/4 vote
31 Orian GISSLER 2 - 2GW8 paper/scissors winner vs Antonio -
Guillaume's Puppets
30 Antonio COBO CUENCA 3 - 2GW8 - ventrue 1/2 vote [spanish version]
9 Rodolphe DANAC 4 - 2GW7 - weenie presence vote
23 Romain NAÏM 5 - 2GW7 - council of doom new school

and seating such as:
Antonio -> Orian -> Romain -> Lucas -> Rodolphe

Final results were:
Orian with 2vp wins the tournament
Rodolphe gets 2vps
Antonio gets 1vp

Many congratulations Orian!!!

I'm very happy to see the deck working out for you.
Could you post some kind of report on how it flew during the
tournament?
Any key moments or key cards?
How did the Puppeteers treat you and how did they work out in the
deck?

Regards
Alex

By the way, the decklist I submitted here lacks two cards I included
in the morning:
+1 Mylan Horseed (goblin)
+1 Tower of London

thx

That is a really nice report. Thanks Orian!

It's also nice to see you sharing your thoughts on strategy.
It's a really good read.

How did Tower of London work out for you? Peal makes fun of me every
time I try it, but I still haven't decided whether or not I like it.

In this particular deck, I can't see it working all that well, as
there are only, like, 6 or 7 cards that make it pay off. But on the
other hand, in this deck, as it is also just an Elder Library that
costs an extra pool, if it pays off once, it breaks even.

Well done Orian.
I guess no one did play Jericho Founding, in the end.. ;)

it makes the difference when you call 1 puppeeteer/turn with the
terrible combo:
Guillaume + Charisma + Tower of London
one guy makes sudario on sudario/puppeeteer/shroud mastery
Guillaume recruits Puppeeteer and untap at 2stealt, gain 1 pool

I like tower of London but not enough to play it just for its effect.
Now, it is a location so I guess it is interesting one (there are many
locations that can enter the deck according to your meta or what you
like: centralized background check, house of sorrow, elder library...)

I suspect another name for the Death Star Cannon deck (i.e. Anarch
Revoutionary Council). But I could be wrong.

No, it's a Huitzilopochtli + Maris Streck + IC Member deck:

You are. There is no other name for the Death Star Cannon deck.

To find Council of Doom (or any other 'name' deck), go here:
http://www.thelasombra.com/decks/twd.htm

and search for 'council of doom'.

That's 'cause Tower of London fails the "Should I play Ascendance
instead?" test. :)

Play Ascendance and gain one pool, or play Tower of London and be
down 2 pool and have to succeed at 4 Necromancy actions over the
course of at least 4 turns to do better than the 1 pool from
Ascendance.

Creepshow Casino? Heck, just another Storage Annex would be fine.

Oh, don't I know it. But Tower of London is so much stupider, and
therefore worth more in style points! Or something.

Also, it's called The Death Star, not the Death Star Cannon deck!

Unless you're talking about some deck called the Death Star Cannon deck,
but that's a dumb name. Don't name your deck that. That's like calling
your band the Hard Rockin' Blues Band band or something.

Congrats Orian, as usual well done! I' m glad that Antonio entered the
final, seems that spaniard politics are also kicking abroad ;-)

Just to make sure...do you rely on your Puppeteer and stealth in order
to avoid Gillaume being torporized? (i.e. this is the reason for not
playing Spiritual intervention)

Greetings,

Iñaki.-

The reasons for not playing spiritual intervention are the following:
- I don't like this card
- pupeeteers are good blockers
- combat decks don't make the final table

Congrats for your victory in spanish grand slam (I don't do it on your
own thread, that would be too cock-sucking I guess lol)

Nice. I agree SI is not such a good card, but keeping Guillaume alive
is one of your main concerns when playing this deck, anyway pupeteer
do the thing.

Combat decks don' t make the final table but may destroy your chances
in early rounds (though SI won't help you that much against a Combat
deck)

Have you thought about making it anarch, I' m working on an anarch
Guillame list, I think it provides really nice tricks.

Greetings,

Iñaki.-

Yeah, I considered it at first but I wanted to try the deck I played
at tournament at least once (I had built it on paper after german
championship) but had never played it before going to enter other
techs.
