Well we now stand some 20 days before GenCon
We stand some 17 days before the hypothetical* week of nightmares

Are there actual events, ie an "Official" week of nightmares planned
for Aug 14 to Aug17?
Are there unofficial events? Will there be either that have not yet
been organized?

Are players just expected to wander into the Ram and holler about
vampires until arrested or someone comes along and tells them what is
up?

I see nothing on White Wolf's calander of events.

Can anyone offer guidance? Or is this a grand ploy fostered by the
hotels to get me to pay for more nights?

Try looking at this URL, which is the Week of Nightmares event info
that has been under WW's "News" section for a couple of weeks now:

http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?articleid=247

In it, you'll see that there are scheduled events as follows:

Sunday: pickup games
Monday: 2pm constructed at the Ram
Tuesday: 2pm constructed at the Ram (swaibank variant, whatever that
is)
Wednesday: 11am golf outing, 4pm Create-a-clan at the Ram
Thurs-Sun: pickup games in the Hyatt's Sequoiah and Yosemite rooms
between official Gen Con events

Er, I meant 2pm DRAFT on Tuesday, not constructed. Oops.

The format is a draft format we've been playing in Boston. The basic
differences are:

Draft from smaller pool than normal (typically 7 packs with 3-5 from a
base set)
Miniumum Crypt size is 7
Miniumum Library size is 40 and when you library is empty you can use a
Discard Phase Action to shuffle your ash heap back into your libarary
and crypt.

So, its draft designed for smaller pool of cards, but otherwise not
much different. We've played it at a few events now and find it to be
less expensive, faster to draft, and result in better decks (which
means more fun) than "standard" draft.

Its nice to see the format getting some more exposure at WoN. I think
people will enjoy it.

Thanks. Figured there had to be something out there as no one
else was inquiring. Two weeks plus two days to go.

I'll be running the Swainbank Draft tournaments, which will be free as
I'm providing all the cards. We've been doing 7 packs in Boston, but I
wanna try doing 6 packs to see how things go.
