The Battle for Atlanta 2012

The Idea
The Battle for Atlanta 2012 is a limited deck league taking place in
Atlanta between January 14th and August 25th. Each week, a player may
participate in no more than 2 league games. Multiple games can be
played during that week if attendance is adequate for multiple 4-5
player games.

The Goal
Take control of the largest number of metro Atlanta cities and
municipalities for sect control of the city and recognition. Each game
that results in a game win will grant the winning player their choice
of available municipalities.

Deck Rules
The standard tournament rules will apply for deck size, i.e. 12 crypt
card minimum and 60-90 library cards. The crypt grouping rules will
not be used during the league.

Starting Cards
Each player will start with 1 starter deck, chosen by the attendees in
alphabetical order by birth month.
Additionally, players may add 1 promo of their choice and the contents
of 4 boosters to their starting deck.

New Cards
At each session, a player may trade cards from their set to the
available card pool on a one-to-one basis. (i.e. 1 library card for 1
library card or 1 crypt card for 1 crypt card) A player may trade as
many cards as they desire. At the beginning of each session, each
player may add 1 promo card of their choice to their deck. At the end
of each game, anyone gaining one or more victory points may open one
booster of their choice and add any of those cards to their deck. At
the end of each game that results in a game win, that winning player
may open a second booster of their choice and add any of those cards
to their deck.

Boosters Available
When gaining victory points or winning a game, players may select from
the available boosters to add to their deck. Boosters from the
following sets will be available for this league:
Legacies of Blood, Ebony Kingdom, Lords of the Night, Gehenna, Kindred
Most Wanted, Heirs to the Blood, Twilight Rebellion, Third Edition,
Black Hand, and Sword of Caine.

Maximum Cards
The maximum number of cards allowed per player is:
120 library cards
30 crypt cards

Any cards provided to a player via promo bonus, victory point bonus,
or game win bonus that exceed this maximum must be donated to the
available card pool. The player will select which cards they keep and
which they donate.

Promos
The promo pool will include the following cards in equal quantity
(16):
Abactor, Anthelios, Blood Doll, Call the Wild Hunt, Erciyes Fragments,
Fee Stake: Corte, Fee Stake: Los Angeles, Fee Stake: Perth, Gran Madre
di Dio, Italy, House of Sorrow, Infamous Insurgent, Legion, Lilith's
Blessing, Two Wrongs, and Wake with Evening's Freshness.

Available Card Pool
One set of vampires from the Blood Shadowed Court set will be in the
starting set of available cards. Additional vampires that support the
clans in the starter decks will also be in this pool. No library cards
will start in the available card pool. Cards will be added to the
available card pool by those players that gain excess cards from the
promo pool, victory point bonus boosters and game win bonus boosters.

Consolidating Power
The player who scores a game win may assign their municipality to one
of the vampires in their crypt, that vampire will have 1 vote in every
game for the rest of the league (and become a bishop, primogen, or 1
vote title holder). If a player wins a second game, they can assign
that same vampire to control an adjacent municipality. If a player
wins a third game and assigns that same vampire to control a third
adjacent municipality, that vampire's title will be reassigned as an
archbishop, baron, magaji, prince, or 2 vote title holder. A player
may not assign a fourth municipality to the same vampire.

Conquering Neighboring Municipalities
If a player that is participating in the league wins a local
tournament, they may take control of a municipality that is adjacent
to one that they already control. This may remove control from another
player. (This is the only way a player will lose control of a
municipality.) A municipality that is controlled by an archbishop,
prince, or 2 vote title holder cannot be targeted by a tournament win.

The Resolution
On Saturday, August 25th, the final talley of municipalities will be
taken and a victor announced. All of the cards in the available card
pool will be the primary prize for the victor. Additional prizes may
be decided and made available prior to the end of the league.

Buy Out
On occasion, players may desire to take cards out of their league
collection to put into their regular collection for use in non-league
decks. Since there is no charge to enter the league, players wishing
to take their cards out of the league may buy them out. Whatever the
current eBay value of the card is found to be will be the charge.
Players leaving the league by moving out of town, may buy their
collection for $50 (or less depending on the value of the collection
when they wish to leave). At the end of the league (August 25th), all
players that have played a minimum of 10 league games will get to keep
their collection.
