Hello all,

This time we had 12 players in attendance. The tournament took place
at IST (Lisbon's Technical Institute), our usual spot for events. We
use a class room and usually have lunch at bars or cafetarias on
campus at cheap prices, so it's a really nice place for tournaments.

There were several curious facts on this event, like a raging duel
between Arika and Hardestadt. I was playing with Arika and our Prince
was playing with Hardestadt. Most of the time Hardestadt had a Pentex
Subversion and no bleed deflection. My deck uses Scalpel Tongue (best
vote push ever), so the only referendum that I called passed. And
Hardestadt tapped. :)
I was reckless and influenced out a third vampire when my prey had 1
pool left, leaving me with 3 pool. He back-KRC'd me with Hardestadt on
his first turn without the Pentex. I had great fun on that table, but
did a stupid thing and paid the price.

Anyway, very soon we realized the day would belong either to Teresa or
to Eliseu.
Teresa's deck is below, so more on that later.
Eliseu's deck, dubbed Tower of Annoy, uses 1-capacity vampires and
annoying Masters to eat away at its prey. Besides a bombardment of
Anarch Revolts, there's Antedeluvian Awakening, Brainwash, Curse of
Nitocris, Pentex Subversion, Vampiric Disease, Society of Leopold and
support with Parthenon, ways to become Anarch, Effective Management
and Tribute to the Master. All weenies go bleed, after many of them
becoming anarch. Annoying pain in your backside.
And fun to watch, from a safe distance.

As always, Ricardo Portela played the art of "low profile" like a
master. He arrived at the final with a Harbingers of Skulls pseudo-
wall deck, featuring the Mla Watu group (the laibon part of the
bloodline).

Pedro "the Wall" Luís played with his Tzimisce wall and got to second
place. He sitted behind Teresa and waited for the final
confrontation.

Teresa's way to victory started with surviving my Banishments with
Promise of 1528, as Predator on the first round and as Prey on the
second. And to think I got up early that day to get her 2 extra copies
for her deck. Never again. :)

Teresa won the final with a tie against Pedro "the Wall" Luís, the
winner of the last tournament. Chance had it that 4 of the 5 finalists
from the previous tournament repeated the standing in this final.
They started to eliminate the Tower of Annoy, but not in time to save
Ricardo. Poor guy had a Pentex Subversion, Brainwash and was being hit
with 5 Anarch Revolts.
After Teresa got Eliseu, Bruno Robalo fell as well. His Nosferatu
wall / rush had big blockers, but little pool.
On the last duel, Teresa stood no chance against the Tzimisce Wall,
with 3 vampires and a Carlton.

Description: Classic design block denial bleed deck. From the times of
Luis Duarte up until today, little changed. Completely ignored combat.
Secret Passage, Secure Haven and a small cap can stop most of the
attacks. Promise of 1528 is awesome in post KoT environment.

Its a good way to get new enemy's...

Delay the influences with Kaymakli's and the brainwash's. You won't be
affected.
Get 3 Master phases with Parthenon and Rumors...
Dump anarch revolts on the table, pentex your predator to get some
time... or someone else.
Maintain the AR and the Rumors with delaying tactics.
If a big guy turns anarch... Golconda.
The Smiling jack and the constant revolutions are not defensible...
but they buy you some time, and sometimes they even cause some damage
on the other players. If you have a lot of minions block, otherwise
don't bother.
The secure haven is to grantee that you will have an anarch... and in
some cases to contest with someone else.
The vessels are useful to gain some pool on the long run, and the
tribute to the master is a worst case scenario.
Anthelios give's you the possibility of renewing the used masters.

MIND THE VAMPIRES DISABILITIES...

And remember... its you against the table...

If anyone turns a vampire less than 8 anarch... thats just 2 bad...
and it happens a lot.

If it is your predator, Pentex him... it probably won't be your
prey... you have one easy VP with this deck... but only one. And if he
is not playing with weenies...

If you got a strong predator with a s&b deck with small vampires...
you won't even get that... you will dye before.

If the vampire less than 8 is from your "ally"... well you probably
already have a good head start, your prey is dead/dying and you can
flood him with your vampires.

Its always a good idea to call the Rumors for everyone in the
table... there's always someone who want to have a second master
phase and he won't be calling a ref to burn the card.

Having seen this deck play I'll put my input on some of these issues:

First I would like to remind you guys that it makes a HUGE diference
to play with this deck in 4 player table, instead of 5.

Exactly. Cicle the other copies in other people's Political Actions

In that case one tries to kill the prey with swarm bleed.

Exactly why Teresa sit down as his Predator in the Final.

People never help this deck in any way possible. Or at least they
shouldn't :)

As mentioned, while I certainly can't question the utility of a deck
full of 1 caps bleeding a lot, I'm kind of baffled by the 14 Anarch
Revolts. I mean, yeah, they can be good and all, but if your prey gets
a vampire of capacity 2+ in play, they just Go Anarch the hard way,
which this deck can't block and can't possibly do anything at all
about (except for the 1 prayer Society). So 14 cards in the deck are
used up to say "Everyone at the table loses 1 pool and wastes an
action".

Does this deck have a different experience than that?

Heh. That doesn't work much. When I was playing Spring Break: Miami
(little Hermanas vote deck), I would call a Crusade on T2 all the
time, and see it fail a good portion of the time 'cause someone had a
vote card in hand. Or someone else had a small minion and bled for 1
and got the edge. And I can't really imagine the begging working at a
tournament with this deck, as by the second round, everyone will know
about it and probably irrationally hate it :-)

With 14 you should see a couple early, hopefully early enough to do
some decent damage to your prey. With all the Kaymakli Nightmares
(even though its once per game) and Brainwashes your prey could have
quiet a difficult time getting someone into play that can go anarch.
Sure, the Kaymakli and Brainwashes use up MPAs that slow down your
ability to play more Anarch Revolts, but hopefully you have multiple
MPAs a turn by then.

I probably wouldn't try it without some way of getting rid of anarchs
or stopping the go anarch the hardway, but I could see how it works
sometimes. For example, my last deck (Dmitra and her Ventrue Friends)
only had 2 untitled vampires in the crypt, so there is a pretty good
chance I have no way of going anarch some games.

You try to pass the rumors at the second round with the edge in your
hand for an extra vote...

The main objective is to force the table to spend more pool than
you... in more than one occasion my prey didn't even got a vampire to
play.

Yes, they can turn themselves anarchs, but how many pool have they
lost before that?

And remember that you can always pentex / leopold them...
