The first 9 players qualified for the continental championships. Note that
due to the 2008 rules on qualification, 4 of them redundantly qualified
(Kamel, Orian, Florian, Rodolphe).

Final

TTC (Una Freak show, 5th seed) -> PcGeol (Ravnos Embrace Carnival, 1st
seed) -> Raspy (Blanche Spirit Marionnette, 3rd seed) -> Krid (Bima
dominate, 2nd seed) -> François V. (!Nosfe Courier, 4th seed)

PcGeol gets Ravnos and 2 Embraces, his Spleen will go to torpor due to his
special (his last action was a bleed blocked by Clanche). Raspy has Blanche
and a weenie dom. Krid influences his FoS and recruits Bimas. Francois V.
does the same with !Nosfe and Couriers. TTC influences Una.

PcGeol has several Direct Interventions in hand, it would be the bane of
TTC's Una Freak show deck, but PcGeol plays the DI on a Daring the Dawn
played by Raspy on a bleed by a Ravnos stolen with Spirit Marionnette.
Another DI will be played on a Set's Curse from Krid, at a moment when
PcGeol had 5 vampires.

Then TTC starts playing with Una, which will take about 26 minutes. He'll
play about all his deck (only 2 Armor of Vitality in hand at the end of his
turn). He gets permanents (see decklist below), burns or torporizes all but
one of PcGeol's vampires (the one left will be Mind Numb'ed) and does the
same with Raspy's vampires. TTC also has some weenies in play.

Raspy stops influencing. Krid bleeds gently but steadily, he doesn't put too
much forward pressure so that Francois V. can also move forward on TTC,
protecting himself with Flash Grenades. On the next turn, TTC ousts PcGeol
after about 1h

Then, Krid puts Pentex on Una and keeps bleeding for 1 at first, his initial
tactic being to let Francois oust TTC. But Francois is too slow to Krid's
taste, so Krid goes full throttle and becomes the "bad guy" of the table.
Francois keeps the head out of water as he can, notably thanks to the Vessel
played cross-table by Raspy, who had influenced Blanche again in the
meanwhile.

Krid eventually ousts Francois. TTC, after yielding a contested Pentex,
seemingly estimates he can no longer win and withdraws with Krid's
agreement. Then Krid wins without any surprise the final duel against Raspy,
after 1h50mn or so. Congratulations to him !

He wins 2 RPG books (Cadwallon) nicely provided by the Ludicite organizing
crew, 15 additional boosters, 1 starter LotN of his choice and sleeves. The
other finalists get 3 additional boosters; those who stayed till the end got
1 starter LotN (since they're all second, dice roll was used to determine
who got to choose first) and sleeves. All players, finalists included, got 2
boosters LotN and all the 2008 promo cards.

The french version of the report, with pictures, can be found on the Paris
VEKN site :

Many thanks to :

-Multiseb, official organizer of the tournament, such a nice venue would
never have been available without him

-the Ludicite organizing staff, especially Sylvain, for their hospitality,
their enthusiasm and the really nice atmosphere they infused to the
convention

-PcGeol, Ankha and Sylvain F. who gave me a much needed helping hand in the
initial setup of organizing, early in the morning

-Ankha for sacrificing his place as a player in order to run demos during
all the day ; to Floppy for assisting in the demos later on

-Johannes Walch for his much appreciated prize support as European
Coordinator

-Blackwood, French Coordinator, for contributing to the logistics of prize
support

-the players themselves, who were very ponctual, disciplined and friendly
(at least for the first two rounds!!)

Finally, here are the decklists of the finalists (I have no clue whether
they'll show without those pesky line spaces, any advice from a comp wiz kid
is welcome) :

I hope I didn't forget anything or mistyped a decklist or
whatever....Anyway, it was overall a nice tournament, one of the things I
regret is that all the players were french, even though the advertisement
was made on various foreign forums. I hope it'll be more international next
year, wherever the french 2009 ECQ is handled.

See you all in Prague,

Stone
