In what might very well have been the 1st Millenium Cultist Storyline
Tournament run, the 8th Annual Orgy of Mystery in Ithaca NY was won by
Brian Johnston of Olean NY with a crazy Malkavian Antitribu Hannibal
First Strike Coma Amaranth deck. Evil Vampire Barbie takes yet another
trip across the state to live in Olean for the year.

We had a strong turnout of 19 players from Ithaca, Binghamton, and
Olean, and after 2R of preliminaries, going into the final were:

-Peter Bakija (2/8) with a Nosferatu Sheldon Lord of the Clog Dance
Parity Shift vote deck.
-James Rodriguez (2/7) with a Toreador Aneke Vote Bleed deck.
-Brian Johnston (1/3) with a !Malkavian Hannibal Coma/Amaranth Bleed
deck.
-Dave Conroy (1/3) with a Malkavian OBF/DOM/FOR/aus giant vampire bleed
deck.
-Steve Wampler (1/3) with a Euro Brujah Vote/Bleed/Fight deck.

The seating ended up:

James, Brian, Dave, Peter, Steve.

The game started pretty quickly, with Dave getting out Arika really
fast due to a Godzilla's Valley (Dave apparently was playing 9
Malkavians and 3 Arika...), and blasted Peter out of the water by
bleeding him for 21 in three actions. Peter had suffered critical deck
failure by not drawing into a Sheldon in his opening crypt (and Sheldon
was the only one who could play the bleed bounce), yet managed to
spitefully back KRC Dave into death range before getting ousted. Dave
ousts Peter. Meanwhile, the rest of the table is setting up, getting
out multiple huge titled vampires, but no one bothered to gain control
of the Reverend. Brian comes around and bleeds out Dave pretty quickly,
as Dave managed to not draw into any Deflections, so he gets killed by
a couple stealthy bleeds a turn or two after killing Peter. The game
stabilizes a bit. James finally gets up some gumption, calls the vote
to score the Reverend, manages to push it through, and immediately uses
the Reverend to bleed Brian a bunch. On Brian's turn, he calls the vote
to get the Reverend, and convinces Steve to help him pass the vote to
get the Reverend away from James in exchange for not bleeding Steve
with the Rev and then letting Steve get the Reverend on his turn. On
Steve's turn, Steve calls the vote to steal the Reverend, Brian lives
up to his side of the bargain, and Steve takes control of the Rev.
Steve bleeds forward with the Reverend, knocking James down to 1 pool,
but can't seal the deal. At this point, Steve is at 3 pool, James is at
1 pool, and Brian is at 2 pool. James can't get through Brian on his
turn, and so Brian ousts Steve pretty quickly. The game comes down to
James and Brian, and while James puts up a good fight with a successful
Parity Shift, Brian gets ahold of the Reverend again and uses him to
slip through James's defenses and wins the game with 4VPs.

An excellent event. Without being spoiley, the Reverend deck is a
really entertaining mechanic--in most games, the player who managed to
keep control of (or at least get the most use out of) the Reverend
ended up winning, although in a couple games, the Reverend managed to
not be a factor at all, as no one ever bothered to try and gain control
of him. Unsurprisingly, all five decks in the finals had significant
vote presence (a Justicar/Prince deck, a Prince deck, a Justicar/Prince
deck, a Cardinal deck, and a deck with 3 Arikas in it), so until the
vote situation became unhinged, the Reverend didn't really come into
play, but once the game collapsed into 3 players, the Reverend became a
huge factor.

A fine, fine event which is heartily reccomended by this here group of
VTES players.

Hopefully--Brian had to take off as soon as the final was done, so I
didn't get a deck list, but he should e-mail me one shortly.

>From seeing the deck in action, it revolved around Advanced Hannibal
for vote power and various other mid sized titled !Malkavians (Korah,
etc). Bled for 3 with Kindred Spirits and Confusion backed by light
Obfuscate stealth (I never saw him go over +2 stealth--I think he
mostly had Swallowed by the Night for Obfuscate). Had bleed bounce and
light intercept. When he got in fights, he used Shadow Feint to Coma
with First Strike, Amaranth, and then not get burned in the Blood Hunt
due to having a lot of votes and usually having someone else at the
table happy to have him burn whatever vampire he burned. He didn't seem
to have a huge amount of bleed (reliable Kindred Spirits and the
occasional Confusion) and the deck seemed fairly balanced in terms of
offense and defense.
