40 of the finest Hungarian players attended the finals of the
Hungarian National Championship held in Veszprem. The event
had fierce competition, top tier decks, and a timed-out final. :)

Finals:

Jozsef Kuminka (playing the netdecked EC2007 winner
deck) -> Ferenc Horvath (War Ghoul) -> Balazs
Sebestyen (weenie Anarch Auspex) -> Ferenc Vasadi
(Nosferatu vote) -> Balazs Pahi (Brujah debate).

Ferenc Horvath started to build up quite early - by
turn 3 he had 2 vampires, a Jake, a Produrer, and
a Mr. Winthrop. Ideal setup for his deck... except
for his prey. Balazs Pahi knew how fragile his
weenies would be against the Ghouls so he blocked
every.single.war.ghoul. This meant blocking
altogether 10 War Ghouls and 1 Ossian, sometimes
at 2-3 stealth, sometimes 3 in one turn. He couldn't
put much pressure on his prey, and Ferenc Vasadi's
only non-titled vampire, Sundown, managed to go
Anarch and thus be immune to the effects of Balazs's
Anarch Revolts.

As there was no vote lock (3 decks with some degree of
political power and fairly balanced distribution of
table votes) the game advanced slowly. There was no
stalling or slow play - it simply took a lot of
back-and-forth to get effect for actions (Balazs
Sebestyen was playing some Eagle's Sights and
Delaying Tactics, often intercepting the more
game-altering actions; Balazs Pahi and Jozsef were
playing Second Traditions; Ferenc Vasadi was playing
some light intercept; etc.).

Ferenc Vasadi was looking strong and almost ousted his
prey, but was stopped short by a block; after a
well-placed Society of Leopold on his Cock Robin, and an
Eagle's Sight block on the action to move it (the action
was intercepted at +7 stealth) Ferenc was left with 1 vote,
weakened significantly. Balazs Sebestyen used Anthelios
+ Parthenon to play Pentex Subversion on one of Ferenc's
vampires each turn, and was wearing him down pool by pool
(his poolgain, as he had no significant predator in the
form a war ghoul deck with no war ghouls, was more than
sufficient to offset the 2 pool cost per turn). It seemed
like that the weenie Auspex would eventually oust him,
however, due to Maldavis' drawback, he couldn't do the
oust in 1 turn. Then the vote decks agreed to help Jozsef
oust his prey, gaining a position in the process, but
another Delaying Tactics and a block made sure that nobody
got ousted in time.

Funny is that two of the EC2007 finalists were at the table
(Jozsef Kuminka and Ferenc Vasadi), although this time Jozsef
won the event (and got declared Hungarian Champion of 2007).
Also funny is that basically the same deck won (except now
it was played by Jozsef):
