Uh, Ullo !

Assuming you are in any way organised :P, which of these three ways would/do
you use to organise your collection:

- Sorted by Set, Rarity, Alphabet
- Sorted by Set, Card Type, Rarity, Alphabet
- Sorted by Set, Rarity, Card Type, Alphabet.

Thanks for letting me know.

I keep lists (when I keep lists) that are sorted
by set then by alphabetical.
I usually only keep lists of rares anywhere near
current though. Everything else - got lots.

The cards however are divided into three areas:
Vampires: Alphabetical by clan, including library cards
that are clan specific.
Master Cards: Alphabetical
Minion cards: Split by discipline, Political action, retainer, ally,
equipment, general minion then sorted alphabetically.

Its a complex system but it works well for me.

None of the above. Set and Rarity are worthless to me, as I play the
game and don't spend any significant effort collecting it -- those two
simply make it difficult to locate cards I need.

In order:

Card type
Clan (only for vampires)
Discipline (alphabetically)

Big mettalic boxes.

One is for all Allies / retainers / equipment / discipline less minion
cards. (and yes baleful dolls or wolf companions are in this box)
One is for Master cars, subdivided in "regular masters", cards that
requires Sabbat, cards that requires independant, cards that requires
camarilla. sorted by clan in each subdivision.
One is for vampires, sorted by sect, then by clan.
The last one is for common discipline cards (fortitude, auspex) - the cards
are not classed however because i'm to lazy to put all those skin of rock
next to each others. So the fortitude row is a mess but you can always find
what you want inside.
There is a small box where i put all the "exotic" disciplines : vicissitude,
quietus, serpentis, obtenebration. In this box i also put some specific
equipment and locations : ivory bows, Lyndhurst estates, Ankara citadels...

4 boxes, no less, to be able to build a deck quickly .

for the multi/dualdiscipline cards, they are in the box of the "exotic"

None of the above.

I sort them by type and then use the cheap plastic sleaves to group certain
cards together which makes them easier to find and and also protects them
when you are riffling through the box for cards.

None of the above.

1. Card Type (Split types are placed in the section corresponding to the
card background).
2. Alphabet

I've found simplicity to be best. Too much sorting just causes me to
take longer to find the section containing the card I'm looking for.

We put the Commons and Uncommons of each Set in one (or more) card boxes
with 4 rows. In the card box the cards are sorted by type and (discipline or
master type).
The vampires are all in one huge multi-row box sorted by Clan and Set.
Inside the boxes we use Magic: The Gathering cards in big sleeves to
seperate the various type of cards.

Additionally we have one card folder for each Set carrying the rares of the
set and a complete Set and one big card folder with all vampires. Using the
folders with the complete sets and especially the vampire folder helps to
visualize a new deck ;-).

I thought you know your language Johannes! We, means, at least two

Yeah. Visualizing is great. I am visualizing right now some sort of
legalizing!

Legalizing Child labor of course! That way I am able to pay 3 Euros an

< snip Ben's superior organization >

My, Ben, I must admit that I am very impressed. Perhaps you'll have to give me
some tips on card management some time! =)

While I generally don't mind mixing cards from different editions, there are
some cards from certain sets that I like to isolate, if only to preserve its
distinct...scent.

Has anyone else noticed this. So far I've been able to identify the following
unique scents:

#1. Jyhad
#2. Sabbat War
#3. Final Nights
#4. Camarilla (the funky smell everyone was talking about)

I didn't get enough DS, AH, or original Sabbat right out of the booster to be
able to make any such assessments. I'll also have to try my BL cards and some
other printings of Camarilla to see if their smell is distinct.

Personally, my favorite aroma would have to go to the original Jyhad. There's
just something nostalgic about it...

So does anyone else have any thoughts about this or am I just a super freak?

Nah...I prefer to keep 'em with the clan-specific cards, 'cause it's
easier for me to find when I'm building decks. They're at the front
of each clan's specific cards. I use hunting grounds a fair amount.

> > - Master

Oh yeah...I forgot to include my "Useful Stuff" section, which includes
WWEF, FA, 2nd Trads, Blood Dolls, Minion Taps, Tributes, The Barrens,
Dreams, Books of Frag, Info Highways, Suddens, DIs, KRCGs, Rumor Mills,
London Evening Stars, and some other sundries. Basically, stuff that
gets included in decks so often that I don't feel like rooting through
the rest of everything to grab 'em.

> > - Master: Discipline

>
> These go with my hunting grounds. That is in a paper bag next to my

I threw out most of my skill cards, but I keep a handful of each 'cause
every so often I'll have a deck that could use 'em.

That's part of my "pseudo-sorting". Guns, in increasing amounts of
damage. Agg-damage weapons. Grenades. Chainsaws. Other melee weapons.

But there's no hard and fast rule about the pseudo-sorting.

Jackets. Bikes. Laptops. IR Goggles. Misc stuff. Stuff that gives
you disciplines. Bottles of liquid. Loquipment.

Part of my political actions are sorted into: Stuff that deals damage,
stuff that gives pool, with the Ancilla Empowerment/Anarchist Uprising
and Autarkis Persecution marking the end and beginning, respectively
of the two sections.

I tend to look for cards by type rather than by name, as I like to
sift through the options. Sometimes a card you hadn't thought of
will pop out at you.

> Note... There's this thing now called "grouping" and you might want to
> sort them by that first, then by the above...

Oh yeah...all of my CE cards are in a separate box (though sorted by
the same method) until I get around to incorporating them into the
main collection. I'll probably just throw all of the Group 3 Cam
stuff into the back of their respective sections.

I have a dossier for cards from Jyhad to Sabbat, another one
for cards from Sabbat War to Bloodlines, and a third with cards
from Camarilla Edition.
Vampires are in a different dossier, all together.

On each dossier, the cards are organized by Card Type - Set - Alphabetical.
The vampires are organized by Set - Alphabetical.

Sounds good. I primarily play, and therefore only sort by the following:

Card type
Card title (alphabetically)

I use a card database or monger to look up cards/build decks.

Ditto.

> Discipline (alphabetically)

I do mine vice versa, as I find that I am more often building based on
clan or discipline and just want to look at all the applicable cards,
so:

None: master (by subtype - none, skill, OOT, location, unique),
minion (by type - action [none, ally, equip, political, retainer],
action mod, combat, reaction, multitype)

Clan: crypt (by capacity), master (as above), minion (as above)

Discipline: minion (as above) [Multidiscipline is counted as a
separate discipline except that cards with ulteriors sort with their
inferior/superior discipline.]

And of course the clans and disciplines themselves are sorted
alphabetically, as are the various leaves of the sorting tree.
Simple, no? (Don't answer that.)

Hope that helps,
Alex

Well, i have TWO collections.

The Collector's collection is sorted by set, and within set
alphabetically, with set-associated promos tagged on to the end. i
never play with any of the cards in the collector's collection.

The playing collection is sorted into library and crypt cards. The
crypt section is sorted by capacity, and includes clan-specific
library cards. The Library section is sorted into the following
categories: Master, Discipline-specific, Equipment, Disciplineless
non-equipment cards [further subdivided as appropriate eg into
actions, reactions, retainers, allies etc], Clan Hosers, Politics and
associated action modifier and reaction cards. So much for the theory:
in practise there are also great shoeboxes and tottering piles of
cards that are not sorted or partially sorted. This is
partly-deliberate: i find one builds better and fresher decks if
one's card pool is restricted.
