So normally when I have to use my finger to write Elbereth in the dust, I write it once, get hit, then write it a 2nd time, get hit again, then a third time, get hit, then a 4th time, and the monster flees. Well, I've finally ascended! Chaotic wizard, which I suspect is the easiest role to ascend (or maybe it's just my playing style). I rather overprepared... Patching Nethack under Windows...

Ok, this is killing me. Here's what I have: 1) A fresh copy of the Nethack source code. 2) The Visual Studio 2008 patch file from nethack.org. 3) A copy of patch.exe from the DJGPP FTP site. (patch version 2.5.9 or something like that). In excruciating detail, how do I apply the patch? I've basically tried this: patch -pX < VisualStudio2008patch.txt... more »

Oh hai!! How can you zap yourself? I mean im not a n00b and ive been playing for a while nethack (65ish games). I still dont know how to zap myself or cast healing on myself. I've tried 5 on the numpad "." and other things like ">" but meh "Thats a silly thing to do" =P Then again... maybe im n00b. Elnono... more »

So changes aren't really going to come as frequently as before, but I've been able to steal a little bit of time. NAO is now running 0.6.2 of Sporkhack again, after the dgamelaunch update, and the beta server is still chugging along nicely, with over 18,500 games played as of today (and 155 ascensions!).... more »
