YAAP: Funcrunch-Wiz-Hum-Fem-Neu, wishless, polyselfless (NAO)

wanted to ascend a human Wizard on NAO, as I'd already won with the
elvish and gnomish varieties there. I don't remember my starting
equipment being particularly remarkable, but between bones and luck I
had both an amulet of reflection and bag of holding before Sokoban,
plus a couple of magic markers and other goodies. Hence I decided to
go for the conduct.
I obtained a pet Olog-Hai via polytrap which enabled me to get
shopkeeper money for protection. I found several altars in the
dungeon, including a co-aligned temple on level 22, after which I
abandoned my pet so I could take advantage of the sanctuary while
altar-camping.
Since I was playing wishless and needed more items for my ascension
kit, I decided to do a bit of pudding farming to make more polyfodder.
Here's where I found an aligned priest, annoyed by puddings, can
actually promote to a high priest after enough kills. I posted about
this separately and found that fact was later added to the Nethack
wiki, so thanks for that. Anyway, I didn't get all the items I wanted
through camping and farming (though ironically one of the pudding
drops was a wand of wishing), and I had to sacrifice quite a few
puddings to finally get Vorpal Blade, as being a Wizard I didn't get
it when crowned (though finger of death spell certainly came in handy
many times over), and I didn't to risk Vorpy being generated randomly
on Astral. Up till then I used Frost Brand with Magicbane in the
offhand, and healthy amount of magic missile spells outside of the
temple (where there was no risk of hitting the priest).
Eventually I got tired of camping and went on to map Gehennom,
figuring I could branchport back later if I needed to. Magic mapping +
detect treasure = very quick trip through hell. I soon got everything
I wanted for my kit except for a helm of brilliance; a randomly
generated pair of +6 leather gloves from the Castle fit very nicely
until I found gauntlets of power on the Orcus level, and later
gauntlets of dexterity in Rodney's tower. With this last piece of
armor I had 0% failure for all but one spell, and didn't miss the helm
of brilliance at all.
Trip back up was uneventful. Tamed a purple worm but he predictably
swallowed a chameleon and became a gecko. Tamed a ki-rin but got tired
of waiting to reach basic skill in riding, so dismounted on level 1
and attempted to bring him through the Planes anyway. I realized later
I should have re-mounted at that point, as after dropping enough gear
to become unburdened I never needed to interact with objects on the
floor again. Anyway he died on the Plane of Fire and revived (with
AoLS) hostile; I attempted to re-charm but he was too high level but
that point, so I killed him and moved on.
First altar on Astral was the right one; got there quickly thanks to
unburdened status, wands o' tele to move monsters out of the way, and
skilled jumping spell. I ascended for my 19th NAO victory and my first-
ever wishless ascension. I've now won with all conducts except for
foodless, illiterate, and pacifist. I don't think I have the patience
or desire to attempt any of those.
