Well, I found a wand of polymorph in a shop. I decided to use use it
to steal, but I polymorphed the shopkeeper, not me. So It looked like
this
Asidonhopo the yellow dragon gets angry!
>Zap what?
>Asidonhopo the water troll gets angry!
>Zap what?
>Asidonhopo the hell hound gets angry!
>Zap what?
>Asidonhopo the soldier ant gets angry! Asidonhopo bites! You die...

So anyway, what would happen if I found the bones? Would killing the
ant be murder? Would it be angry at me?Could it be appeased with gold?

Anyway, even if I (or someone else) do find the bones, I would
probably die from my polymorphed pony, whichwas hit by the ray a
couple of time. And there will be a bunch of polymorphed merchandise
on the floor...

You don't get accused of murder for killing nonhumans. Even if they
were polymorphed from a human into another creature like a soldier ant
then you'll be fine. You can't appease the ant but you can always tame
it. Pretty sure the monster would be hostile.

How would *that* work?

Couldn't kill a soldier ant? *not* time to be using a wand of polymorph.
You were doing a protection run weren't you? There a very good reasons why
it still can be done: It's dangerous, has a low probability of sucess and
it's done where you're at your worst capability of the entire game. Just
use your pet to BUC id armor and lower your AC that way. By the time your
spell points get high enough to be useful, you can safely remove your
helm to cast. It's far more important to become proficient (skilled or
expert minimum) in your primary weapon to survive.

It's a shopkeeper. At worse you get a minor luck penalty along with less
experience you'd get by killing him normally. If you're not around 100HP,
don't even *think* of trying to kill a shopkeeper. That's the bare
*minimum* with an excellent AC (read -10 or better and ideally reflection)
to kill a temple priest.

Actually, not true. Usually, most shopkeepers first use their wands of
all things. Thus, if you a wizard and therefore have a cloak of magic
resistance and a wand of something powerful (like fire) you can take
it out with almost no damage. But that's a special case.

It's been polymorphed. I'm not sure about the appeasement and
stuff, but it won't be any harder to kill than any other monster
of the same type (and with the same armor and arms, if it knows
how to use them---shopkeepers generally come equipped with an
attack wand or so).

Shopkeepers are a lot easier to kill than priests, at least in
my experience. It's just that it's rarely worth the bother once
you're at a level where it's possible.
