YANQ-Yet another newbie question (I'm hoping that abbreviation will
catch on, I think r.g.r.n desperately needs it - especially with me
around ;)

I had a thought: If you had polymorph control, would you be able to
control lycanthropy, turining into whatever you want whenever you would
normally change form? If so, I think getting bit by a were-creature
would actually be usefull as long as you kept your ring of PC on (or ate
it).

Actually, that brings up another question: I read in a spoiler that you
can eat a ring who's origional, unidentified description said it was
made of metal (ex: an iron ring) so long as you are a metallovore (rock
mole, rust monster, or Xorn). But when you identify a ring, it no
longer says what it's made out of. Is it actually possible to eat any
ring when you are a metallovore. Also, when you eat a ring, is there a
100% chance that you are permanently granted the corresponding
intrinsic?

Thanks for your help.

Use the \ command. It explains what ring (scroll, wand, ...) is what, after
you've identified it. Quite useful, and documented in the Guidebook. Advised
reading.

From rint-340.txt:

polymorph control
effects
You can decline a lycanthropic change of form.

You don't get to choose another form at that point. Note that you can
only #monster pets when in your beast-shape; but at least this
allows you to assume it in a rather more controlled manner.

Rust monsters can only eat rustprone metals, but yes.

No; as Boudewijn said, / will show you the materials of identified
rings.

It's a 1/3 chance. There are a few other caveats; see ring-340.txt
for the details.
