Thought I could leave the Wizard behind on Water level; he had
just appeared as I stood adjacent to the portal...

But, despite being one square away from the portal, he followed
me to the Astral Plane. (Thought he'd have no admittance ;-)

The only other thing to mention is that I noticed in the final
log that I didn't have fire resistance. Stolen by a gremlin, or
(more likely) just missed to obtain it, dunno. Gehennom without
fire resistance! Doh.

Ah, and another carelessness; I had 5 purple w, four adult and a
baby, but on Air *all* enjoyed some meal and only the baby purple
worm followed me through the portal. That was a pitty. They would
have made Astral much more convenient. Some were quite high level.

I did magic whistle, and all 5 purple worms were placed in a way
around the portal that my step into the portal would have taken
them with me... - if I had only considered that the adult worms
where *all* eating. (I've taken it into account that one or two
might stay back, but that I lose all of them surprised me a bit.)
I wanted to take that chance to leave with most of them before
the nearby air elementals would complicate matters again.

I think it is only that he cannot reappear there.
