I've taken a couple of screenshots - the first shows the appearance
with the in-game Color option set to True, the second with it set to
False.

As you can see, with Color=True, no color is displayed at all, other
than a green background on the player character tile. Other objects in
the dungeon - monsters, items, traps, door etc, are all displayed in
black on a white background.
I've been playing with Color=False, which I've found less off-putting,
but the dramatic rise in the need for using the farlook command is
quite wearisome.
I've dumped my session settings from the registry to the txt file
below.

I'm hoping that someone will be able to spot the problem and advise me
on what changes I can make to my settings to make color display
correctly. If you need any other information in order to diagnose the
problem, I'll be very happy to oblige.
I also had problems configuring PuTTY properly with color. The key is
to make sure that you are using the latest version (.60). I was using
an older .58 distro and everything was coming up inverted rather than
in proper color.
Once you have the correct version, go into your configs under
Connection | Data and change the Terminal Type string to "xterm-
color".
If you want to use IBMGraphics, may also need to go under Window |
Translation and change the character set to "CP437"
There is also a thread on this topic in the help section of the
devnull bragging board with more info, including some putty reg files
for the various servers. Once you get configured, be sure to join
