A faster extinctionist than this one (106K turns) is very possible. I
fooled around for many turns doing these things:
- polypiling ad nauseum - can't help it - I'm addicted to polymorphing
stuff.
- making "MB and eating them until I acquired MB intrinsic
- making +7 armor
- making +9 silver daggers
- making high-charge =IncDam and =GainConst
- alchemizing and chugging potions when I really didn't need the extra HP
or Pw.
- collecting dilithium crystals
- waited for many turns for the demon princes to summon their brethren, but
gave up after a while. I actually stoned them, hauled the statues to
Sokoban. A few times during the course of the game I revived them and hoped
and waited for them to gate in another prince.
- tamed 7 of the 9 Nazguls and saved them all up on Dlvl 1. I wanted to
see how many I could ascend with, but only made it through the planes with
two. not sure why count reflects as it does, hope I didn't miss any.
The castle wand of wishing was spent only for the artifacts wea116 was
carrying, and maybe one magic marker. A few subsequent wishes from smoky
potions (!monster detection) were burned trying to get the Heart of Ahriman
(finally did), and then a couple more markers.
My strategy for speed extinctionist is simple: create monsters as quickly
as possible with pets (Archons) killing them as fast as you make them. I
hung out in Vlads Tower, casting CM, reading ?CM, zapping /CM until I
finally tamed an archon or two. Then I started giving them good armor and
enchanting their weapons. Once I had pet Archons I kept making monsters as
fast as I could and the Archons easily kill everything instantly, except
'trices.
A snapshot at turn #60000 shows Wea116 to be fairly beefy at that point in
the game.

On turn #69884, a c?CM made only Archons and one Kirin. On turn # 69885
there was no effect from CM in Vlads, I had extincted all monsters randomly
creatable there. (cricket noise here)
I headed to the Vibrating Square level, dlvl 51, with four Archons, to
extinct the worst creatable monsters in the game. Archons with +7 artifacts
beat the heck out of high level liches. On turn # 77323 (first move),
reading c?CM created only salamanders on bottom level (51), then turn #
77323 (second move) there was no effect from CM on bottom level (51).
After that, headed to Ft. Ludios with the Archon army and by turn #84200 (or
so), there was no effect from CM in Fort Ludios.
Next my gang went down to the bottom of the mines branch. Around turn
#90400 (or so), there was no effect from CM in Mine's End, or any of Gnomish
Mines (one shopkeeper left alive). Then I checked from level 1 on down and
CM didn't work from Dlvl 1 down to and including Dlvl 29 (castle level).
Upon reaching the VoD finally I was able to create monsters again.
By turn #94550 or so in the Valley (dlvl 30) CM was making lemures only, and
on turn #94583 there was no effect from CM in VoD (dlvl 30). Checking
downward I discovered no monsters could be made from Dlvl 31 though Dlvl 51
(VS level).
At this point I cleared the quest levels bottom to top and went to wake up
Rodney. Did the VS and verified no CM and "You feel lonely" from spell of
Detect Monster all the way back out of the DoD.
Killing all the inhabinants of the Plane of Water before teleporting out
took many turns. All my pets, at this point 4 or 5 Nazgul and two Archons
popped through to Astral before me, and most became wild. After retaming
the Archons I killed an adventurer and finally completed my +7 armor
ensemble with the +7 gloves of dex. I then used confused ?CM and cursed
?Geno to fill the level. This required taming of many acid blobs and orcs,
to surround the Archons with so they wouldn't keep killing what I wanted to
keep around for a while.
There's a trick in the extinctionist FAQ
(http://www.steelypips.org/nethack/extinctionist-faq.html) to really kill
Death, Famine, and Pesty Pestilence by filling the level with monsters so
their corpes have no square to regenerate to. I finally felt "less
threatened" a few times thus removing the other horsemen from the game. I
then offered the amulet to Ptah. (not my God). But what did I know, being
atheist?
Many archons were swallowed by the pesky purple worms, and I managed to
ascend, or, that is, escape in celestial disgrace, with "A3 Excal" and "A7
Sunsword", whose final stats are itemized here for you perusal.
