The ochre jelly was carrying a potion of healing?
What else might an ochre jelly be carrying?
I don't think that magic missile can shatter potions. And I don't
think monsters will throw healing potions at you. Maybe a monster
zapped a wand of striking, and shattered a potion of healing?

Not in vanilla. OP didn't mention anything about variants or patches.
Maybe they confused missile and striking?
Maybe it was in the path of the magic missile.
Complete non-sequitor. MM does not damage potions. Someone/something
Throwing them will however. You need to tell us *exactly* what happened
in the previous 20 moves and what exact game you are playing.
I'm confused here. If this was an NAO game, then there would be a
TTYREC for the Player Skippy, right? But if it's not an NAO game,
then there is an extremely high chance the previous 20 moves are
unretrievable, right?

There are other situations you can set up where they wouldn't be. With
addon packages such as running ttyrec on a home pc. However I was
referring to the lack of required detail the OP gave and requesting
that be corrected.
