After playing Moria for a little while, it occurs to me that it is far too difficult, especially for the first 1000-2000 feet.
Randomly rolling statistics is a terrible way to generate a role playing character.
There is disparity in the capabilities of the classes. This may be most prevalent at lower levels. Still, most classes other than warrior are quite likely to die in the first five to ten character levels.... more »

New - Moria 5.01 (based on the original)

I'm pleased to announce that there is a new port of Moria for Windows and Linux. This version is in Pascal, just like the original. Unlike other Moria ports, this one is version 5, not 4 and is not in C.
Other platforms including Mac OSX (and Darwin), Amiga and most if not all Unix variants, should be available if you install Free Pascal on them and simply compile the sources.... more »

Pascal sources for Moria

I'm a pascal programmer and I'm wanting the pascal sources for Moria (hopefully version 5) to implement it on Delphi/FreePascal (with extensions/improvements).
I've searched and searched, but all I can find are c translations of the pascal. I don't want to have to translate it back again.
Can anyone help me?... more »

building. Now you can actually see where you are heading. Makes curing
that antisocial disease pitbulls give you easier.

BOSS was originally a variant of Moria for DEC VAX mainframes running OpenVMS system. The game is now ported to Linux and Windows. Source code should compile on most platforms supported by Free Pascal. Download binaries for Linux, Windows and source here: [link]
