Hey folks,

I am looking for a game that we used to play in college. I am pretty
sure it was umoria - things look SO familiar, but there were some
differences in the version we played. I'm wondering if anyone knows
of what I'm looking for. Here are some of the differences in the one
we played:

1. You could create multiple characters to form a group. You would
travel through the dungeon in your group, and could move any character
to the front of the group at anytime. The one in front would take all
the hit points and cast spells, fight - whatever the case. When one
player died, your group could continue. When you got back to the town
level you could also create another character to join your group. I
forget the maximum number of characters in your group - 6 maybe?

2. In addition to the 2d view, there was also a 3d text-based view,
where you could actually look 1st person as you walk through the
dungeon. You could switch between those views whenever you wanted.

Other than those two differences (which are all that I can remember),
everything else was quite similar to umoria.

Thanks!

That doesn't seem familiar to me as part of a normal Moria port. In
any case, you can try downloading a current version of Moria to see
how close it is.

You could also try seeing a list of games as well, but having more
than one player character means it probably won't be in the list:

From that alone, I doubt there's a relation to Moria, and most likely
had four movement directions. While it's possible to do a 3D view in
8 directions (as with Bob's Dragon Hunt), it's not something that
common.

Doesn't ring a bell, but the description (except the text-based part)
sounds vaguely like Ultima II. :)

Does this seem familiar?

Even though it's not the roguelike, it did share the same name - and
since the roguelike was more popular and got ported to more platforms,
the game you were looking for would be hard to recognize unless
someone stumbles upon it.
