The intial release was much too buggy to recommend but recent patches
have eliminated most of the bugs and introduced a lot of new content.
I just wanted to spread the word. My motives are selfish. I want the
developers to continue adding new content!
POWDER had very little depth in its first releases as well. That
comes with time. Hopefully within a year or two "depth" is no longer
a differentiator.
Being able to natively target the platform is a big win for game
design, since so much of games lies in the interface.

I do too, but prefer to carry the iPod with me for its convenient
webbrowser.

Once I finish with the obvious improvements for POWDER on the iPhone I
look forward to trying out the other roguelikes that have shown up. I
saw a comment that Sword of Fargoal had the best movement mechanic,
for example.

With the former pair at least, plans are there in general, as I have
repeatedly harassed since the beginning, to port them to PC and the
like proper somewhere down the line providing things wrangle up in
good measure in iDevice land. Also hoping Voyage to Farland on
Android leaps on over too...
:phone is a Samsung Knack...if you've never heard of it that says it
all really:
The movement control is quite good, but diagonals are still a little
problematic. When attacking diagonally I occasionally miss my mark.
One solid beef I do have is that in higher levels, the play speed is
ridiculous. If I had numpad control it would not matter, but on a
touch control .... :P
I don't have an iPhone so I couldn't try it, but I understand the game
is turn based- how could play speed be an issue in that case?
-Ido.
