Random provided me with Kobold Stalker, I noticed that first two letters
are matching my name and decided to give it a try :)
After several attempts I figured how to start and deal with early levels.
Confusion is great thing and poison works fine too.
But a little later unconfusable enemies appear and I just can't damage them!
Ok, I can kill a few hydras with wands.
I'm currently wielding +1,+7 poisonous dagger.
I haven't found any branded or at least a little enchanted short swords,
not speaking about sabres.
I'm playing 0.8 trunk and decided to give shackled god a try.
I survived so far only thanks to his detection.
But without the way to kill things I cannot advance...
Am I missing something?
Or KoSt is just 'hard' combo that is only playable with sheer amount of
luck in form of some early randart weapon?
If you have an amulet of rage you can berserk as much as you want, since
there's no problem with food..? I don't know, that's all I got...
The entire abbreviation, actually, which is kinda fun. :)

Even at +7, you're probably simply not doing a lot of damage. You
might consider switching to another weapon type at least for
particularly buff monsters. Similarly, you might want to branch out
into other spells. Wands are good, yes, and ranged combat is also an
option. By the time you're meeting hydras you should have found
something useful.
I haven't actually played any of the new Stalkers yet, but it doesn't
look like their starting equipment alone will be useful for long. So
yeah, you probably have to make do with what you find.
Good luck!

Two randart polearms. Good ones, but I can't use them.

I just checked. I haven't found ANY crossbows!
That's not even funny.
Mb items generation was changed in 0.8?
