I'm gonna take the lead here... I can book us conference facilities
at Imperial College London and there's plenty of cheap places to stay
and things to do in London, as well as good transport links to the
rest of the world, so this seems like a prime opportunity to have this
year's International Roguelike Development Conference in London. If
everyone agrees this is a good idea then the only thing left to do is
choose a date.

I'm pretty flexible, but I would suggest May. It's easier for me to
book conference space then, and it's well enough ahead of the Olympic
Games that we won't have to worry about the city getting too full. To
help with the whole voting thing I've made a doodle poll - please
select *all* of the weekends when you'd be available to attend:

Of course I'm open to other suggestions too, but if no one else is
putting themselves forwards then it makes sense to get this sorted and
in everyone's diaries quickly.

Ahh.. I was actually thinking more like August/September...
Anyone in favour of a late summer IRDC?

Hmm, not as easy for me - I tend to take a holiday around then, plus
the Olympics stuff is still on early August. But if others prefer we
can try to find a suitable time around then.

I just checked that on google maps. Wow! Nicely located!

Very cool, thank you very much for starting the initiative on this.

May was a good time last year as it is post 7DRL so there is a lot of
energy to talk about that.

July/August are out for me as those are the times I get nice weather
here and I want to enjoy it :>

My preference would be for September as it gives me more time to
plan. We do have the ARRP in September that it could coincide with?

I'll try to list my possible dates for May, but it's only a 50%
chance.

I like that idea. Also, then my family could come with me.

I actually preferred the way we had it last time in spring - much nicer weather than the gloomy september & november we had in 2008 & 2009.

My vote is for late may/early june.

I've posted my preffered dates, but I'm not really sure I'll be attending yet.

With September it could rather interfere with ARRP (unless held
after). It might also be a little harder for me to arrange meeting
rooms in September, though should still be possible. I can add some
September dates to the poll if people prefer.

Ah feck, I just screwed the poll up... I added dates for September as
an option, but it wiped everyone's votes. I'm very sorry! Please
refill the poll with your available dates. I do at least remember
that everyone so far was available the weekend of 26th May, which
makes it the prime candidate for this year's event.

I'll also post the poll round some other sites.

I've made a RogueBasin page for the event now, and will keep this
updated with any developments. Feel free to update with your own
info:

I'll hurry up and get confirmation on my May availability. But 26th
of may is the one weekend I am emphatically not available :<

I have confirmed up my May/June availability. It is now more likely
than September. :>

You do have good points about September, since you have a quorum
already for May/June I'd recommend going with that rather than risking
everything falling apart over the summer.

Yeah... Weekend of June 2nd is looking especially favourite for me as
organiser, since it's a doubly long bank holiday weekend in England
(Monday and Tuesday both off work). I will likely confirm this
shortly so people can book flights/accommodation/etc.
