GearHead2 v0.510, Roots of the Beanpole

GearHead2 v0.510 has just been released to the public. The big
addition this time around is the Beanpole Campaign.

As many of you know, GearHead uses a random story generator for the
player character's main quest. The Beanpole is a campaign of 13
episodes with limited randomization which should be able to work for
any character or faction. I'm developing it so that GH2 will become
completable as quickly as possible; there's only so much playtesting
you can do of a game which doesn't have a victory condition. Once the
Beanpole is in place, additional components can be added and the story
generator returned to true randomness. The Beanpole will remain as a
failsafe; it can be woven in with other components, and in theory
should work to prevent the story from ever reaching a dead end.

The second big change is that certain models can now blow up when they
get destroyed. Be careful about playing croquet with radioactive rats.

Here's the complete list of changes:
- Added Atgeir, Harkney, and Ice Wind mecha
- First four episodes of the BeanPole campaign
- Reduced cost of High Output engines (ghsupport.pp)
- Fixed “frozen enemies†tactics bug (arenaplay.pp)
- Added High Performance engines (ghsupport.pp)
- Gears may now explode upon destruction (effects.pp)
- Added \SECRET message formatting command (arenascript.pp)
- Added Secret gears (gears.pp)
- Increased the number of plot elements to 30 (narration.pp)
- Added error for attempting to grab nonexistant elements
(playwright.pp)
- Metascenes also get PlotStatus-keyed rumors
(interact.pp,mpbuilder.pp)
- Pilots of mecha get assigned a UID (locale.pp)
- Added LTrigger ASL command (arenascript.pp)
- Changed the way megaplots incorporate subplot scripts (mpbuilder.pp)
- ?Mx and ?Px changed to ?Mecha and ?Pilot (arenascript.pp)
- Changed Monologue to GMonologue (arenascript.pp)

GH2 is available in both console and graphical versions. In addition
to the precompiled binaries for Windows, you can compile the game on
Linux, FreeBSD, and MacOS. As usual all files may be downloaded from
SourceForge:
