I recenlty stumbled across this old game I made earlier this year, and
decided someone might benefit from the idea it uses. Basically this
game is my answer to Valves popular and quite amazing Portal game. Its
written in the most juvenile C++ and I have no intention of doing any
more work on it: so feel free to rip it to shreds, but Im working on
better things now ^.^

The keys are displayed in game.

The box (Weighted Companion Cube) is only half coded and not
guaranteed to work the way its supposed to with portals. Its not
required for the puzzle level anyway.

There is a height map -
black with dot is ground floor
shaded is height 1
darker shaded is height 2
white with black dot is top floor

To get heigher you can go from height to height like stairs.

if you drop onto a portal from above you will shoot out of the other
one, getting you over obstacles or onto other high sections (you will
see an X which shows where you land... if you view the cross section
between the portal and the X you will see the trajectory you take)

Blue lines are glass and cannot be passed, but portals can pass
through.

Red lines are energy fields and can be passed, but portals cannot pass
through.

Some of the puzzles are actually quite good I think, let me know if
you finish!!

Sounds cool, can you post some screenshots and/or a gameplay video?

You should post the source code so people can finish what you started
here. Good stuff, tho.

Be neat to see it in actual 3D. I love 3D from the top down.

MainMenu.jpg - A shot of the main menu

SandBox.jpg - A shot of a typical sandbox level: Its just a mess of
height area, beams, glass and spikes to play in.

ItsPossible.jpg - A shot to prove you can get to that point in the
puzzle level, and also a demonstration of how looking through one
portal allows you to see out of the other.

work

portals work
